Posts: 1   |  GamerTag Hi All, I am looking to change my Gamertag that I sign into xBox Live with. Is there anyway to do this besides having to get MS Points? Also, if I create another Profile on my 360, can I use this to sign into xBox live with and play in games that way? Is it only the name you FIRST signed up with xBox Live that is allowed to log on and Play? Any replies would be helpful. Thanks |

Posts: 903  | if you buy a gold card on a profile, i think it has to remain on the same profile to keep your gold card status. i think the only way to change your name is with the ms points.

Posts: 841 | First, Welcome to the site!  As for your question you have two options. One is to pay MS via points to change your GamerTag. This will allow you to keep any achievements and stuff you have done under the old GamerTag. This would include the ability to re-download things from Live that you might have already paid for the in the past. The second is to create a new account and delete the old one. If it is a gold account you will have to repay the $50. Everything will be as if you never had one before. No achievements, no points, no downloads. Nothing. Good luck~

Posts: 841 | Agree, assuming you have something to loose. If you have never downloaded anything that you had to pay for. Or if you don't have any achievements you care about losing. Also remember it is cheaper to pay the 800 points then it is to pay for another year of Gold. On a side note, any real reason you want to change your GamerTag? Why not just leave it as is?
