If you thought the market Place was going to be aimed at all ages think again. Microsoft is in the process of separating its market place into two separate sections.
One aimed for the adult audience and the other aimed at children. All 18+ Rated content will be moved to the Adult Market Place and all content aimed for children will be moved to the Xbox Live Kids Market Place. Now your thinking no problem I will just make two accounts. Wrong the next update is set to install a scanner on your system so if you try to play designated content on a separate account for example adult content on a kids account the 360 will simply block you trying to play it. Also the update will block you from accessing foreign market places apart from your own countrys.
Also the fact that you will only be able to have one profile on your 360 to go on Xbox Live with will prevent others from accessing foreign content and content designated for certain types of accounts. So if you try to play an adult demo or video on your Xbox Live Kids account the 360 will prevent you from doing so. The same applies with an adult account. And if you even try to run adult content of a demo disc on a kids account the 360 will automaticly scan the disc blocking the demos off that you cannot access. The same applies for market place videos and content and even games. In the future Ms plans to force companies developing new games to place a digital signature telling the 360 what age limit the game is so that it will only play on the age it is suitable for. The furutre updates will also block the current games as well.
Basically because of the legal problems with youths playing games that they are not the right age for and the fact they can easily do this is probably what brought MS into doing this. So you will only have one choice the Kids Market place or The adult market place. Of course for the adult market place you will need to revalidate your credit card info and yes you will need to complete your date of birth and if you think forget it ill lie about my age don’t bother as MS have the date of birth details you registered your credit card on the account if they don’t match you wont get on period.
It will be interesting to deal how people handle this. What are your thoughts on the issue?

Posts: 27 | This seems like a very good idea to me. Good way to keep kids away from things they shouldn't be experiencing imo. Also good way for parents to make sure their kids aren't getting things they shouldn't be.
All n all a good move by M$ imo. |

Posts: 45 | Why not then just get an account that is fully open to all possibilities? Kids get into rated R movies and buy cigarettes - and that's with someone in person. Faking the idea that they are older than 18 while sitting in their living room should be a snap.
is all the 'kids' stuff going to be available to the 'adults'? What if I want to upgrade my Viva Garden from a thing in the kids area, but I am an adult?
I like the idea, but why not keep everything the same, but restrict purchases and gameplay from the account as is? Parental controls have been around awhile. The only time I have ever heard of parental controls being used, however, is by some companies to restrict internet access by their employees.
Maybe I care less cause I am 34, but if I was 13 and wanted to play Saints Row -I'd figure out a way.

if as you say, the birthday on the credit card must match urs, that shouldnt be too hard. do you not know your parents birthdays? bam, ya just got an adults account.
seriously.
i have a child, and when shes old enough to play games with me, id be quite happy knowing she cant accidentally play things i dont feel she should be playing. in the end, they can try whatever they want, older kids will always find a way around it. Thats why its always the parents responcibility to moniter the games.

Posts: 1,066 | Ugh, this is so stupid. Why can't they leave the parenting to the parents? If my parent's are OK with me playing Gears of War, I should be able to play it. I almost wish we had to apply to have kids...

| | | games should be played by people that are old enough to play them. im sure if parents really knew that you can slice people in half with a chainsaw on gears then maybe they wouldn't let their child play it. my mates brother is 13 and plays gears - i think that is ridiculous. | |

Posts: 41 | I gotta agree with Reaper on this one. I think it's just Microsofts way of havin something on the books to show that they made every effort to provide a "knowledgeable & responsible" online gaming site for all ages. Unfortunately we are living in a "Blame" society and when a disturbed kid committs a violent act, it only takes one lawyer to convince his/her parents that it's not their fault but the fault of the irresponsible, greedy, capitalist makers of Violent Games that warped their childs mind. |

Posts: 269 | I agre with the guy who said "Leave the parenting to the parents"
they are the ones who made the choice to bring a child into the world, if they want to let their kid see a guys head get shot off, then let it be.
IMO
