Mishap while creating gamercard.

I just logged on to live for the first time the other day. The only issue I had is my profile no longer includes all of my achievements that I have accumulated. Has anyone ever experienced this or knows of a fix that I can try?

Wow, weird. Did you create a new profile for this? Or did you just change the name of the one that had achievements?

I guess I created a new profile. Microsoft tech support had me try recovering the info from live but to no avail. The guy was really helpful but finally told me my only option was to replay everything with the new profile to gain the achievements again. Oblivion is a great game but I dont know about sitting through another hundred plus hours just to earn things that I have already accomplished. Tech support also said that he had never encountered anything of this sort before.

Very interesting. It doesn't sound like that guy you were talking to knows what he's talking about though. How can you recover something from Live that was never connected to it? LOL
And if he's never encountered anything like this before, that may be just because he's new. Hence his bad advice, but at least he was nice, according to you.
I don't know what to tell you. Oblivion is a fun game, and getting those gamer points should be enough motivation. Good luck, bud.

When you log onto live for the first time it makes a Live profile. Even if you use the same name when you did not have live its going to be a new profile. The only way to prevent it is to make a live account from you console the day you start playing games. Even if you make a game profile from a computer you will still lose all your achievments that you had before you made your live profile from your console. If you have a console but dont have the internet yet, take it to a friends that has the internet make a live profile on the console then take it back home. When you do get the internet you will have all those achievement on your live profile and then they will update your achievments.

Same thing happened to me. I didn't even know how achievements worked when I made my xbox live profile.

After making a new profile for my xbox live account and seeing no achievements transferred over, I decided to discard the xbox live profile I made (it was the free trial). I just never used it again and let it expire.

Instead I went to my profile where my achievements were and clicked "join xbox live". Then all my achievements showed up. The drawback was that I had to come up with a new gamer tag because my old one was now used.

Are you sure about that, it makes you sign out before you create a live account. If this is true, then way to go... good find.

I think so, it was new to me at the time and really, it still is, but I did get to keep my achievements, meager as they are, but had to change my gamer tag. I'll check again and get back to you.

Yes, that's what I did. When you click on "Sign up for xbox live" you have to log out of your current game session, but not your profile.

A similiar thing happened to me. I jsut logged on one day and all my reward cards, achievements for NFSC were gone. All of my other games were fine too. Weird
