20gb Hard drive

(Warning - Stupid question ahead) -> If I didn't want to use the 360 as a media center, would I really need a 20 GB Hard drive? What size hard drive does the $299 version come with?

299=no hard drive. you still need a hard drive or a 64mb memorey card. I recomend the $400.00 version. If you dont have the $$$ wait until the price drops.

If you aren't gonna go on LIVE or use your 360 as a media centre, then just buy the standard package. You'll need a memory card to save your games, but that's all.

I dont see how u can have a next-gen console without a Hard Drive. I think even if u dont buy 1 now u will need to in the future.

Also if you play live and game pacthes are relesied to improve LIVE for that game a memory card will fill up quick.
Look at the ps2 a Pacth for SW battlefront was over 3mb
Pach for Socom 1 was 2MB
Pacth for socom II was around 3 MB
Thats 8MB taken up straight away with just 3 games.

You could also just by a hard drive they're $99.00 but you're better of getting the premium system.

Why get the core package for 299 and then buy the hard drive for 100 when u could get the premium package for the same price with more stuff

Does this mean that the 360 will not have an internal hard drive and will it be compatible with the Xbox memory cards so that you can transfer from your old Xbox?

It won't have an internal hard-drive it will have a portable one and there is no way to atleast I don't think that you can transport your game saves onto the 360 because the memory card for the 360 is smaller than the original xbox.

your better off getting the premium package your saving money in long run because the hardrive alone going to cost $99 then if you add on wireless controller thats another 49.99 then for media remote control thats 29.99 so do the math if you can swing the $400.00 your better off with premium package with all the extras you get that you proably will be buying later on anyway.

The Xbox360 is not backwards compatible without the hard drive. In other words, if you dont have the hard drive, then you cant play Halo as well as some other Xbox games. this is because Halo 1&2 use the hard drive during gameplay. No hard drive, no Halo.

I just want to thank this man to pointing out the simplest little thing that no one seems to get. Every console should come with a hard-drive. This isn't 1999. People can benefit so much from one it's scary, if you don't want a hard drive u will always be biased into the ignorant console gamers as so many people classifly us as. Only more doors can be opened, like downloadable content, burning music, saving games, backwards compatibility, faster load times. Trust me, you need one for the next generation.
