Anyone who bought a 360 early had to of realized one with at least a bigger hard drive would be released. Price range sounds about right to bad I won't be buying a 2nd 360 though.

HELL NO! After buying a $400 dollar 360 im not payin another $479 for a black one with some extra features. How bout, i just paint my 360 black, buy the external harddrive seperate and save some money.

Considering that MS is selling the 120 GB hard drive for "less than $200" (otherwise know as $199.99), current 360 owners are getting screwed one way or another. But whatever, i'm over it. I can either wait until my 360 craps out to buy Mr. Black, get one through illegal means, or wait 5 years to see the "Xbox Xenon 720*1e^99 pwner-machine".
It is what it is. For people who are bat shi* crazy for HDMI it will make them happy. For the people who need a larger hard drive we now have an option. For the 80%+ people who don't need either, you don't have to spend a dime.
This still isn't confirmation. No where did I see sources cited from Microsoft. Also, this sounds like another bad decision by Microsoft if it is true. The link says that this new version will soon replace the premium but will be white instead of the special edition black.

That is just one link. There are several around the net that do say it is confirmed. Here is a quote from kotaku just in case you need more ~

Matt Helgeson, senior editor over at Game Informer, just dropped us a line to let us know that the story is in fact true. As a rule they don't post fake news stories in their April mag.
Not sure why you would think it is a bad decision. Just about everyone (even the people who don't need it) have been asking for HDMI and a larger hard drive. Well here it is. As for the limited edition black, I think that is smart on their part as well. I am willing to bet there are a number of people out there who would like a black unit to match their current media centers. I would not be surprised if it sells well that we see it make a return later on down the road. But for now it seems to be a way to make this change to the new "pro" stand out.
All and all outside of the added price to current owners upgrading or just getting the larger drive. I don't see anything to be disappointed about.
bah, that under 200, better be like ..110.. its already BS that we pay so much for such little space MS!! that is my biggest gripe w/ the 360 is how much we pay per MB of space because of their prietary HDD tech!!
I just have a general distrust of reporters and magazines and news stations and such unless they have some real logical appeals and can cite their sources and all.
I think this is a bad decision because:
Bad Timing: The special edition won't have the newer chips and such parts, plus it misses the holiday season.
I think special edition should be more special. There's many more things I'd like to see, and HDMI wasn't even on there. And really, HDMI isn't that big a deal. Sure 1080p is better than 1080i, there's no disputing that. But how many people can really see the difference (psychological factors probable)? And how many care?
The larger hard drive is nice, but that and HDMI just doesn't sound enough reason to release a new 360. I do like the fact they only charge $80 USD more where the hard drive by itself will be $100-$200 USD.
It's black. Cool. Does anybody really care that much that their 360 doesn't match perfectly with its surroundings? If that were the case I don't think we'd see some of the face plates and skins we do. If I really wanted black anyways I could do it for about $10 or less. Maybe people just want to feel special and be like, "Yeah, I got the black 360". My point should be self-explanatory.

Well, seeing as all we been hearing for the past 6 months is how people want HDMI and a larger hard drive then I guess I will just agree to disagree with you.
Completely unrelated, but I do with they would have just included Wifi.
One more plus from the new 360 is it will have the new DVD drive, since Microsoft said it will be installed in "all Xbox 360's" from two months ago and on. So other than a faster processor (the 65nm cell), this 360 has all the things I want out of a commercial console, besides a fingerprint security system.
I'm trying to crunch numbers here. So, let's say you buy the 360's current premium @ $399, but you want the 120g HD. Add on another $199 and you're at PS3 pricing. PS3 may come with a 60g HD, but also comes with WiFi and a Bluray player (which is currently winning the format war). Seeing as 360's have a tendency to break...
