Default Re-Downloading XBLA Games

Im pretty sure I know the answer, but just checking...

I know that once you purchase and XBLA Game its yours for good. But it is only linked to the specific machine you bought it on, correct? And not your live account?

Asking cause I owned about 20 games, and then my console was stolen, so I guess if I were to want those again, Id have to re-buy them?
If this is the case, its too bad I cant send M$ a copy of my police report and then I would be allowed to download them again without paying.

It's attached to your gamercard. I formatted my HD once and lost all my stuff, but once you connect to live and 'retrieve gamercard' from Microsoft you'll see the checkmark that you purchased said game. Sorry to hear you box got stolen. Good luck to you restarting the games. Your achievements should be intact, but the saves be gone.

There was a time what you said was true. It was linked to the serial number of your 360. Last I read they were working on fixing that because of the number of people having to send in their units for service and getting back refirbs with different numbers. But I don't know if they got it 100% straightened out yet. I do know that in the mean time they were giving out codes for MS points allowing you to re-download your XBLA games. Might be worth a call when you get your new system. Good luck~

Oh ok, Ill have to just play it by ear, I hate calling M$ the last two times I did, they were no help, and the people I talked to just seemed to be making stuff up to end the call. Im pretty sure that with my wii the VC games I purchase are linked to the machine, so that sucks...but maybe there is still hope ha.
