GTA = Xbox 360 Exclusive?

Joystiq had a cleverly written blog which basically insinuated that MS will purchase Take-Two and maintain exclusivity. It's just a rumor but so was the "Zephyr" at one point. We know MS has the check book to purchase Take-Two outright but who knows in the gaming world in which we live in today. A funny joke yes but plausible? Also a yes.

Go ahead and it give it a read......

Seeing as they can't seem to turn a profit even having several of the biggest game titles ever, I am not sure limiting the sale of anything is a good idea. No matter who the new owner is...

But on the flip side if anyone can afford to leave money on the table it is M$.

They would be a great acquisition for MS. Well over $1 billion in annual revenue, yet they have a negative Earning Per Share. Good managment could turn this company into a cash cow in a heartbeat.

Msoft doesn't need to buy TakeTwo -- which I believe is going for 1.9 billion or something like that. The problem is that TakeTwo is currently in financial trouble. So if Msoft came in and offered up enough cash to abate the problem, and then TakeTwo made GTA IV exclusive, Sony would be hurting for quite a while. Let's face it, if you could cite one franchise for the Sony dominance last gen, GTA made the PS2 what it is today.

GTA definatly had an effect, and MS darn well knows it. Im sure they are reaching some kind of deal, but i doubt its to get them out of trouble.. they may be worth a billion, but that dont mean they r gonna make a billion in profits... the point of spending that kind of cash, is to get it back and then some.. with all the lawsuits and other nonsence that surround GTA, i dont think that MS would be able to get their money back.

This is one "exclusive" id actually buy

getting DMC4 is just braggin rights to me, so would MGS4 or FF.

I have a channel on my TV that is just a countdown until the GTA IV trailer. It's black, has a big IV and then the countdown below that. Haven't checked it since 2 days ago... but has the new trailer been released yet?

I could careless who has exclusive rights to the game, as long as it does come out for Xbox360 relatively soon or with the other consoles.

i think it ends up being at like 4pm today, or around there somewhere, yea i saw that stupid commercial (which is what it is) on FX late last night.

Yup, i think you're right Remix. I think it was on FX... just a black screen with IV on it.... nothing moves except the clock ticking down. BORING! WTF!

any company with GTA that isn't turning a profit needs new management. MS could at least break even with the company and they would gain $$$ with having more 360s out there

there are many companies that pull in 7 to 10 figure incomes and still dont profit much.. its not unheard of. When you are riddled with lawsuit after lawsuit, pay outs, and all the other nonsence it kills any profit you have. Thats the point of the lawsuits, to make the company stop producing the games, either by force or by bankruptsy

u dont have to have a very strong arguement for a lawsuit, you really just need a halfassed reason that you can convince a judge to go to trial with. Even then, b4 it ever goes to trial, the media gets ahold of it the 2nd the papers are filed, and makes a circus of it. Personally i think its funny at that point, because the bigger stink they make of it, the more free advertising Rockstar gets. The old saying goes, "no such thing as bad publicity". It makes more people want to play it to see how bad it is, more than stay away from it.

But all they have to do is bring in some chump kid and some parents to the court, say how emotionally scarred they are over the games, and they get some settlements or fines. Do it quite a few times, and you run out a company's resources. Those lawyer fees add up quick too.

I believe the Podcast OXM stated it best: "if Microsoft buys Take 2 and the GTA franchise, we can offically hold a on air funeral for the PS3 in N. America."
