Posts: 1,098 | The signal has a 44,000 mile round trip and even moving at the speeds of electricity won't net you any more than a 400ms ping on live. It would work for downloading stuff from live, but as far as killing people on GoW over live, it will not. It may work, but you would be beat down pretty hard. Sorry.......

Posts: 13 | Abu Dhabi? What the hell is Abu Dhabi? Anyhow, i'm not getting my feathers ruffled, but I did spend 900 bucks for a decent satellite connection, along with the 100 dollar monthly fee. |

Posts: 841 | You should call MS then and tell them their site is wrong. Other then that I am glad to hear it works for you. Although I must say every satellite connection I have seen has truly sucked.

Posts: 13 | I don't even know what latency is, but yea, my downloads are pretty slow on the cpu and 360. Xbox live is smooth as butter tho, so i don't know about all satellite being crap. Except when it's snowy or overcast.....

Posts: 13 | Satellite Well I don't have cableor or dsl, it's a radio-wave satellite which picks up waves from a tower about 15 miles from my house. That connecttion runs through to my modem and to my router. No wires

Posts: 1 | I live 30 minutes from the city and I wanted high-speed internet. My only option was satellite internet, so I went with a service provider named HUGHES. When I signed up I was never informed about this "limit" on the amount of internet usage I could use. I found out in less then a day, but I had already signed the contract, so there was no getting out of it. I have an x-box 360 and I can connect to the internet with it, but playing online with other users is out of the question because of the POOR LATENCY. The satalight goes down 1-2 times each week, which is really annoying. I have called them about this several times and they came to find out the problem. They said, of course, that nothing was wrong and there was nothing they can do to help me. If you are forced into getting a satellite-based internet I strongly advise NOT going with HUGHES. |
