It's an amazing single player and co-op game, but dont count on online. Go for it.

Yes, gears of war is a great game- both single player and online. It didnt get game of the year for nothing. Try it out! You wont be dissapointed.

Rent Gears of War first before you buy it. But I'll bet you will end up purchasing it.

Pretty damn good. One of the best single player shooters ever. I played it alot online until I bought R6: Vegas.

I wasn't in love with GOW online, so after a few months I traded the game in. There are better multiplayer shooters out there IMO.

well said, gears is the most overrated piece of crap ever, its not even worth a rental fee, hell, i had it for free and still gave it back in under a day

I wouldn't go that far! The story is very brief, but worth playing once or twice.

IMO I like it a lot. One of my best games, apart from R6. The story is really action packed and will keep you playing once or twice. Online is not so good, but I find that the online Co-op is worth it. So overall, i think if you're into sci-fi shooters or in general 3rd person or just shooters, this is the game for you.

However, I think you should make R6 your first priority. then once you feel like getting another game, get GOW. Another awesome game is GHII from what i've heard. And don't forget to say some cash for the games coming up soon, like Timeshift, Bioshock and Assassin's Creed. Don't buy too many games at the moment.

gears is a great shooter. granted the story is a bit shallow, but how many diff reasons can u get to shoot an alien? just go enjoy the game and kill things. its fun. online is fun too.
