Angry Red lights

Please help!

My boyfriend was recently playing his xbox 360. He was playing a normal xbox game called forza motor. It crashed half way through the game, he then restarted it after cleaning the disc but it done it again. He switched it off, left it for a few mins and then turned it back on and now there are red lights flashing. i think there was only 3. He read somewhere that is could be the power supply over heating. He has left it off for a few days and has just turned it back on but the red lights are still there.

Can someone give me an idea of the problem. I dont think the machine is under warranty now.

well it sounds like your boyfriend has two options if the unit is no longer under warranty.

1. send it in to microsoft for repair and pay the repair fee's
2. buy a new one or buy the new elite

other wise he will be with out a working unit.
but b4 he does any of those things check all the cables in the back of the unit , make sure there all plugged in securely and all the power cords are plugged in completely . If non of that helps . IM SORRY BUT YOUR POOR 360 is _______________________________ Flat lined ( dead )

Call MS before doing anything. They extended the warranty, so you might be covered without realizing it (when did you buy it?). If that's not the case, it can be returned for repair/replacement. MS will walk you through the procedure. From what I've heard, it relatively painless, but you will be without the 360 for a few days.

Hi

I think I bought the console in January 2005 from Argos. Was never given the option to get extended warranty on it.

If I bought a new one, can I just get the basic one and add the hard drive on to it.

Microsoft extended the warranty to one year, but unfortunately you've exceeded that. If you want to buy the core system and add your current hard drive to it, there's nothing to stop you from doing that. Keep in mind that it will cost much less to have MS repair your broken console. I suggest contacting MS first, and weighing your options.

All they have to do is compare serial numbers. You might have got lucky, but that's not going to happen for most ppl.

A bit risky. but I noticed that the employees at my electronics store sort of slack around and don't really give a **** about anything. I once exchanged my wireless controller for a new one because it was broken. The guy just took it wordlessly, he didn't even look at me. But it was sunday so I don't know. nobody works on sunday but that day was an exception. So I might have a chance if those jolly red lights show up on my 360.

Bull****. I saw the towel trick on youtube. You wrap up your 360 in bundles of towels, and watch it the you remember you have to go and get your pizza out of the oven and then BAM! Your towel is on fire and so is your whole house.

The purpose of the forums is to provide helpful, constructive advice not to promote fraud, deception and theft. It's a**holes like you that drive up prices for the 99% of people like myself, that work hard and play by the rules. You're lucky I'm a writer and not a moderator, because I would never tolerate someone promoting an illegal act, as you are. BTW, if you are going to continue to steal, I suggest your next score be a dictionary.

Ohhh ... Below the belt. You would think Remix being such a staunch advocate for capitalism (which is a good thing) would have bought himself one by now rather than stealing it. After all, it does make "sence".

Yeah, yeah, yeah. How about exercising your mod powers? The guy is clearly violating the T&C of the forums.
