Default 360 is screaming!

I'm now on my 4th 360. I just got my 4th one about 2 weeks ago and now it's making screaming noises. I don't know what the deal is because it's in an open ventilated area, never been dropped or hit, and treated really good. Any ideas on why it's screaming? Keep in mind this isn't like a little noise. This is like a severe dial-up connection noise.

For how long must the screaming occur? Hehe, yah if I have to take this one back I better be getting something. It's getting a little ridiculous.

Josh, is this noise only when using the DVD drive, or is it constant even when you're in the dashboard?

From the second I turn it on it screams for about 2 minutes+. It sounds like dial up connection sort of.

My best guess, without being in the same room as your 360, is a fan. There's not a lot mechanical inside besides the fans and DVD system. I've had bad luck with PC fans, so that's my first guess. Sorry, but I don't have a fix for you. If it was mine, and out of warranty, I'd open it up, but I don't recommend you do that unless you are very comfortable doing so, and willing to accept the risk of permanently damaging your console. Opening it up may reveal something obstructing the fans blades, or it might be totally pointless if a bearing in the fan is bad.

Has anyone else encountered this?

its really the only thing that could be wrong with it because the dvd system would only make noise if a disk is in it. So it has to be a fan... Bad bearing sounds like the culprit.
