Not really. A little.

But imo you should buy H1 and 2. Doesn't really matter.

My advice is get on wikipedia.com and search halo series, read the plot and description of Halo 1 & 2 and get up to date on the script and plots of halo, save you money and hassle of getting Halo 1&2 and tbh its not that compicated, its your average aliens V humans earth is in danger yarn.

I know what you're trying to do shane, but I'll ignore it...

Well the story is the main attraction of Halo, so I would buy them...and Halo 1 and 2 are great games.

Forgo a Halo 2 purchase because that game was **** but CE is a must own. The story plays a prominent role in the Halo universe although it's not a necessary requirement prior to playing Halo 3. Like Private Obvious said, you can always use the unreliable Wiki for background and story lines on the first 2 Halo games and even the series of books.

Halo 2 wasn't a **** game at all. Not even SP-wise.

SP was **** and you know it. Bungie admitted they rushed it, they tried to fix something that wasn't broke, and the only plus to the entire game was Live play.

To call it **** is over-doing it. Was it as uber-excellent as Halo 1? Hell no, but it was by no means a bad game. I've played through it many times...and still enjoy every time I kill Regret.

The games don't really tell you enough about the story anyway...get the books.

Halo 2 is a good game if it didn't just end with no reason it would have been better. They worked it more like 3 act storyarc with the first act to get you pulled in, the second where it gets the plot all squared away and the the final act where all hell breaks loose.
