Default IP Address Failed

I just got a new router, and I'm trying to connect my Xbox to it. I try automatic and it doesn't work. Now when I go manual, I have a slight problem with the IP address, I don't know what it is. Where am I supposed to look?

always start with the easy things first. is it wireless or normal? if normal, is your ethernet cable secure from the router to the back of the xbox? do you have another cable you could use in case the one you got is crap? i always find most issues i have with electronic stuff is due to something not set right, or plugged into the right place; especially if you have wires all over. sometimes, you may just even unplug your router for 30 seconds, so you clear its cache, then plug it back in and try to hook it back up again.

doing a manual set up, you'll have to have all your info. i tried it at home and it got kind of confusing, so i went back to automatic.

Yea, thanks blasterpez. The Ethernet cable was in the WAN port of the router. I'm such an idiot.
