top secret repairs

So I called and ordered a coffin today for my rroded 360 and when it came to the end of the call I had a few detailed questions I wanted answered.
First I asked if I was going to be receiving a new unit or a refurbished unit and I was told that I would actually be getting my unit back repaired. I thought they only sent back new or refurbs but guess I was wrong. So next I asked then if they are going to repair it are they going to replace the old style heatsink with the new style or what do the repairs entail, so he put me on hold for a few minutes and came back and told me "THEIR NOT ALLOWED TO TELL ME WHAT THE REPAIRS ENTAIL BECAUSE IT IS THEIR JOB TO FIGURE IT OUT AND FIX IT"

WHAT?????????

I'm not allowed to know what your going to do with my personal possessions, what the hell are you talking about, I understand it's some PR move so they don't have to admit what they screwed up but come on.

anyone else find this to be as big a pile of bs as me?
and does anyone know what exactly the repair entails? I want to know if it's even worth having them fix it or just do it myself with the xclamp mod and heatsink mods?

How are they going to know what the repair will entail if they have yet to see it? Last I checked MS was not Jamaican and named Cleo. I fail to see any logic in a perceived PR move as they already admitted they ****ed up hence the 3 year extended warranty.

If you want it fixed along with an additional 1 year warranty the choice is obvious. If you want to mod it that's a risk you must be willing to take.

no he clearly implied that they were not going to tell me what they were doing to my console even once it was done, I don't understand why they won't tell me what the repair is

Wtf? If you take a car to an Auto Shop, will you throw a tantrum before you give them the car because they won't tell you what they're going to do to it before they even look at it? YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

Simple solution...don't send it back. As Malo "the idiot" said, how can they tell you what they are going to fix without ever having seen your console? If you're paying for a repair, you have a right to know what they are doing. Getting repaired pro bono...not so much. Stop worrying. They are going to fix it right, lest they have to pay to repair it again.

yeah dude, just be lucky u havent been banned, dumba$$, it is kind of messed up that they wont tell you what was fixed or repaired, for example, using josh's theory, go to the mechanic, get an estimate, get the work done then afterward they should give you a printout of what was done you you car. I dont see why they wouldnt tell you, the specs are known and have been posted. AH CRAP dont tell me its a MS consiparacy theory. If so, dude they control the world, get used to it.

seriously man, look at it this way... if it's going to come out of your pocket, they'll call you and tell you before any work is done.

as for the heatsinks.. i'm sure they will replace those too.

the thing about the 360 and most other game hardware is that is it rushed through production, using low cost parts to get it out as quickly as possible to the consumer. now that things have calmed down, MS is playing catch-up and righting a few wrongs. I had to send my 360 in 2 months after i bought it. they pay for everything, shipping as well. i haven't had a problem since. that was a year and a half ago.

oh, and maybe they aren't of liberty to say because they are protecting their copyrighted property and want to deter modding. maybe?
