Default System Failure Without the Red Rings

Hi my names Iwrin Fletcher I write a column under the name Jane Doe...maybe you heard of it.... Anyways my 360 crapped out on me yesterday. The funny thing was I didn't get the red rings i did on my previous 2 console's. My problem with this one is im not getting any sound or picture, it powers up but no signal to the TV at all. I went and got new cables thinking it was that but that didn't help either. Then I took it to gamecrazy and the nice thick girl behind the counter hooked it up with her stuff and no dice. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

Haven't heard of the column and haven't had that problem. Welcome to the site.

"nice thick girl" thats pretty funny, everyone knows about the rrod's, but in all my time in the forum, i have never heard of your issue. My friend i think you may be an unlikely pioneer to another M$ problem. pretty stupid question but have you called xbox support yet? if not that may be the way to go. also, when your system boots up, do you see the green lights? if you dont its a possibility the red lights may not appear due to a short circuit of some sort. All speculation at this point though. best of luck and welcome to the site!

Thats strange, never heard of anything like that. It could be a short in the port where the cable connects. When you insert a disc, do you hear it spin up as well as any other sounds (DVD laser eye movement, cooling fan, etc.)? If so, it could be a bad port.

when i power up i get the green lights and i hear the fans and the cd spining. I think it's most likely a short in the port where the component cables plug into, but I was curious if this was common or not. Called MS and I gotta pay 74.50 for repairs and they say a month. I bought a 360 arcade last nite to hold me over but it sucks 3 systems in 2 years and they don't even care

74.50 seems a little steep, if you bought a xbox 360 arcade, then why send it in for repairs? If it were common, M$ nwould have covered it.

I'll wait a little bit before I send it in maybe after x-mas and put the repaied one in my living room or sumthing. Yea I thought it would be covered also but they want to charge me. I spoke to management and they wouldn't do it for free....capitalist pigs

put a towel around it and let it overheat so it gets the RRoD and then call MS and they'll repair for free

We can't condone this in the forums, but what have you got to lose since you're already gaming with your backup 360?

This thread is pure hilarity. Assisted suicide, purposeful RROD, Jack Kevorkian. It's all so wrong, yet so right.

M$ will have to start installing a towel detector to prevent such horrific fraud against an honest and respected company like M$ just so stingy people can get free repairs instead of just buying new elites like Bill gates wants you to....... but just between you and me I would wrap 2 towels around mine to get free repairs!!!!!!!!
