So PS2 sold 87 million units, while Xbox sold 22 million units. Between the new numbers posted (120 million + ~59 million), they are expecting about 60 million new people to join the gaming industry? Do the new units sell with a complimentary bag of crack? And they are under the impression that Xbox will only make half of Sony's sales? Hmm.
I don't get it. Okay, I didn't read the article, maybe that is my next step before I really lambast this analysis.

i personally just don't see ps3 cracking the 80 million mark again. remember, a lot of those units were replacements or upgrades, so that's not really an accurate portrayal of their fanbase...
also, i think ms could pull off that 58 million mark, if they sell 10+ million in the first year. these analysts were smoking something i wish that they'd all pass around, cause it obviously put some weird crap in their head! lol!

Yeah, Sony's fan base is not definetely not growing as much as that report predicts. btw smerf, did you ever find out from your friend when 360 demo kiosks were being shipped out?
Well, I read the article, and I am still having a hard time swallowing their predictions. I was under the same impression, smerf01, about that 87 million PS2- that that number included replacements and upgrades. Sure, the Xbox number reflects that as well, but I've heard way more Sony fans complain about reliability than Xbox users. I've bought 2 Xbox's, but one was a gift to a friend who's wife told him he would never get one. Well, she's wrong.
Anyway, sorry for the tangent. What bothers me is that I didn't see a basis for the opinion on those numbers. Was there a poll taken, where only Japanese and a handfull of Americans were asked what system they would buy next? Then they multiplied the results by 1,000,000? Garbage science.

the only way i see either console selling 121 million is if it shoots lightning bolts and flames anybody who doesn't buy it.
fear. the most powerful marketing device.
