Unhappy Loads of scratches...

All right, so I noticed today that my Orange Box disc has a ****load of scratches on it! I have kept it in absolute perfect condition, so I suspect it's the 360. Sometimes when I try to play the disc it makes a low electronic humming noise which kinda sounds like it's struggling to read the disc, which worries me, it doesn't come up after it's gone silent, and it shouldn't do that. One time even, I tried to play it and it went back to the dashboard saying it was an unplayable disc. The 360 is scratching my discs friggen bigtime. I have it horizontal too, if that helps. Is there anything I can do to prevent this disc scratching before I can't play any of my games? Any "what to do's" or "what not to do's"?

Thanks

Mine has been making that humming noise for a few months now, but I have had no problems....The only advice I have right now is that you shouldn't put the xbox vertical to horizontal, while its on, because that is what screwes the disc all up..not that you have

You can get scratches with certain games if it is left on pause for too long. The laser ends up burning a circular pattern on the disc (dead giveaway I know). It could also be that the CD is not firmly in the disc tray while movement of the console itself has been known to do damage. However, go to GameCrazy, cop a few bones and have the game resurfaced. Dropping 2 Whorhays for a resurface trumps buying a new game (or used) altogether.

I don't have a GameCrazy near by me, but I found this thing on the internet, it prevents your 360 scratching discs.

Check it out: ::[- ZooZen.dot.com -]::

What do you guys think about this?
