Unhappy Help-won't Read Discs

My son has an XBOX 360....he told me it wasn't reading the disc (something about the eye) so I got on ebay and ordered a DVD-ROM Drive
Model# TS-H943. The part number on his old one is X800473-016.
Everything on the new part is the same except the last three digits are 019 rather than 016. When he put the part in, the green light comes on and for about a minute, 4 red lights blink and then 3 lights just continue blinking....I know NOTHING about any of this game stuff and would appreicate any help offered...
Thank you,
denise

Truthfully, you're sorta screwed now. Had you not opened your 360 it would have been under warranty. Probably your best alternative is to call 800-4MYXBOX and see if they will repair it for you. I think repairs run around $90USD.

the warranty on a 360 is 36 months long.... if it had stopped reading discs thats a dvd drive problem (I had the same problem & it was covered) and it would have been covered by warranty. Basically you were having a drive error then you fiddled with it installing new parts now you have a RRoD problem which is going to cost you.... sorry

Best advice one can give; research methods on resolving the problem before actually cracking open your 360.
