Default Can you store movies you rent from Xbox Live on an external drive?

So a while ago I kinda look around all those menus I never really look at and notice that you can rent movies, even in HD if they are newer. The HD part is the interesting part to me so of course hard drive space is of importance. I just have a Premium with the 20 gb drive, and currently I only have 4.8 GB left,....I couldn't fit a 720p movie on there unless I start deleting stuff. So the big question is, can I just buy an external hard drive, hook it up to the USB port and then store rented movies from XBox Live on there? Or do I have to cough up the money for a 120?

No to your first question and yes to the second question.

With the size of the newer HD movies "deleting" items no longer works. I have killed off just about everything yet I still cannot DL an HD movie 5.5GB or larger.

Bastards.....grr...what's the point of having a USB port that can read external drives, if you can't even hook it up to rent a movie from them.... after all, they do still get my money, just in smaller chunks.

What a deal killer that is....guess I'll delete every demo I have to watch a damn movie!

Yes sir, one of my biggest problems with the damn thing.

High five Microsoft for the complete lack of forethought!

.......... (psssssst) you could always try to get it from a torrent.. and then stream it.. But that isn't legal so uh...uh..... dont.

The best legal method would be to buy a PS3.

Keep your Xbox for your games though... I mean hey, if you are going to spend that much for a 120gig HDD... you might as well save a little more and buy the other system.

Hmm .. Yeah $180 versus $400 ... Your logic is infallible. What is your definition of a "little more"?

Every one of his posts have been blatant fanboyism. Try that **** on a PS3 forum and see how those people react as they try to cling to something to justify their wasted purchase. Future of Gaming is full of sour grapes if you ask me.

i guess it's true. i have a 120 gig, but i only have 106 left on it. if i had a normal, that would mean only about 4 gigs open. and i have nothing on mine!
i have saved game files, and i delete the ones for games i don't have anymore, so it is pretty dang clean. i have downloaded about 4 sets of gamer pics. i have no demo movies or demo games. and i have about 4 downloaded arcade games, and they are what, 50ish gigs each? so where the hell did 14 gigs go?
i guess what i am saying is, i understand your plight.
can you swap out hd's on the fly? or can you only use one with your profile data? like could you use one 20 gig for games, then switch it out for another 20 gig for downloading movies?

i cant see this being a problem. It would just be like swapping memory cards or something.
