to be honest i dont think myself there will be halo 4. but its exciting to think that there is and the ending to 3 leaves you wondering 'is that it or is there more' what do you think?

If Halo Chronicles takes place circa "Ghosts of Onyx" with Kurt as the main Spartan protagonist that would be the ****. If the John (117 Master Chief) story arc has ended there are existing Spartan survivors who would be very interesting to play as.

like kona says, there are plenty of spin offs from halo that can keep that game world going.
also, as long as the demand is out there and people are will to buy, i don't know why they would stop.
or they can george lucas it, and keep releasing the old games again and again, until they meet the creators vision (heard he wanted to do the original trilogy AGAIN in 3d now). Fans will buy it all....i did.

$500,000,000 dollars in the bank from H3 and you ask if there will be a fourth? Lethal Weapon got a 4th movie and I doubt it even came close to any kind of nice profits. So it's a no-brainer that there WILL be a 4th. Mabye Bungie doesn;t want to be just those guys that make Halo but if it making bank why stop??? Drive H3 into the ground until every last cent has been drained from it's rotting husk THEN move on to new projects with many hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank.....

There won't be. There could be spin offs, but no sequel to Halo 3. There's proof as, the day after the E3 2005 Announcement trailer was shown, they said on the official website (Bungie.net) that Halo 3 is the last game in this story arc. It's proven by Halo Wars being a different arc, as it's a RTS based on the events before Halo: Combat Evolved.

Also, the back of the standard edition of Halo 3 says "conclusion to the trilogy." And since MS has two Halo games in the making (Wars and Chronicles) it has more proof that there won't be a Halo 4, but a fourth Halo game. So no Halo 3 sequel, but a new Halo game all together. Microsoft isn't throwing away a good franchise.

No more proof needed. Besides, Bungie can't make Halo games anymore without Microsoft's permission, since Microsoft owns it. But who wants more Halo anyways? Every game the multiplayer maps get worse, and it'll be nice to see a new game come from them for the 360.

There will be another Halo FPS but most likely on like 4-5 years. I doubt it will be called Halo 4 though.........most likely something like "Halo: The return of MC" or something similar to that to signal to gamers a new storyline.

i am pretty sure i can safely say i will never buy a new halo game again. if i find one used for way cheap, i might pick it up, but i won't buy one off the shelf again.
