Default Current Local Game Trade In Value

For those who are interested or currently researching the worth of their 360 games and console, strictly trade in value, I might be able to shed some light on the matter. My launch console has finally kicked the bucket but the culprit isn’t the omnipresent Red Rings. I am continually bombarded with error code 80070005 (Media usage rights could not be downloaded) whenever I attempt to purchase television and movie media. I called MS who promptly passed the buck to my “network”. I called my ISP and everything is white gravy so with proof in hand I called MS for the third time but to no avail. They said they would “escalate” the issue and in 24 hours or less I would be contacted by a supervisor for follow up. I was expected to send it in for repairs out of my own pocket because I was out of warranty and the issue does not involve any general hardware failures. I never received a follow up telephone call so I said **** you and scooped up my Ma’s back up premium. It was a RRoD refurb victim and I suspect it is because of this it had an incessant whine. It was a low pitched, discernable sound and incredibly irritating. If I had a dog I’m sure it would have eaten its own balls out of complete despondency. I said **** the dumb, gathered up my games, threw everything in a duffel bag and headed to Game Crazy. I walked out of the door with a $70 Elite. Obviously prices will vary depending on how long the game has been available and if it’s any good. Here is my local Game Crazy break down;

Forza 2 $6.50~Tiger Woods ’07 $9.10~ Fight Night $13.00~ Civil War $7.80~ F.E.A.R. $10.40~ Just Cause $5.20~ Far Cry $10.40~ Condemned $7.80~ Lost Planet $10.40~ Madden ’06 $0.98~ Madden ’07 $1.95~ Madden ’08 $18.20~ Saints Row $11.70~ Splinter Cell $6.50~ DMC4 $32.20~ CoD3 $7.80~ Assassins Creed $18.20~ C&C $15.60~ Marvel UA $3.90~ Battlefield 2 $9.10~ Dead Rising $11.70~ Oblivion $11.70~ DoA4 $11.70~ NFS Most Wanted $10.40~ The Darkness $7.80~ Crackdown $7.80~ Solider of Fortune $10.40~ Dynasty Warriors $7.80~ King Kong $3.25~ NBA 2K6 $0.65~ Civil War $7.80~ PDZ $4.60~ Quake 4 $7.20 ~~~Premium console w/ wireless controller, HD cables & no HDD $110.00

I spent retail on every game traded in which means I copped about 2 large excluding the games I kept. Even though I’m a little dissonant over the entire exchange I must say I am very pleased with the Elite. It runs whisper quite (slightly louder than a PS3) and I could immediately tell a difference in visuals from component versus HDMI, however, that is just my opinion. If you are thinking about upgrading or trading your **** in remember this, the more the merrier! Jabba the Hut working at the counter nearly choked on his KFC chicken bone when he saw everything I had. They added a 10% increase to all trade in value items (save console) so keep that in mind if my numbers do not remotely match what you have been quoted. Hope it helps or at the very least, gives you an idea of game value.

cheers for the prices its good to see what others are getting. I usually trade **** in (in fact I got my 360 for next to nothing by trading in my original xbox, a PSP, and a bunch of psp and xbox games). Gotta love those sports games you got under a dollar back for ! The way I see it though its worth it if they arent played anymore anyway. I got around $30 for burnout paradise recently (this is fairly new anyway), but was suprised when i got $32 for Gears of War nearly 2 years after its release !

The only store we have to trade in is EB Games, and they usually have pretty good trade in specials every now and then. For example i got $120 when i traded in my xbox towards a 360 plus got gears of war free out of it. Also got some good credit on my DS when i traded that in which paid for GH3

Yeah I noticed a lot of electronic dealers especially video game corporations such as Game Crazy and Game Stop have discontinued monetary exchange in favor of "in store credit" policy. I can only presume it's an attempt at dissuading those that steal games and consoles from pawning off the hot goods. My local GameStop (EB Games) used to give you sticks on the spot but no longer. Also, boot legged video games are becoming popular and **** are they convincing. The IT guy at my old employer had a few and let me borrow GRAW 1 just for my impressions. It looked and played 100% legit. I still feel uncomfortable doing it but I wanted an Elite so I did what I had to do. It's always more persuasive when they have trade in specials as they did in my case. If I had to pay more than $100 for the Elite I was planning on CL'ing all the ****.

I think you can still get cash for trade ins at my local Gamestop but I'm not sure, its been a while since I traded anything in. I know they require an ID now and copy down all of your information with a copy of what you traded in. I usually don't trade games in, I hate getting 5 dollars back from my 60 dollar investment. However, I do remember a few years ago when my local Gamecrazy opened they offered a deal that if you traded in two games you automatically got a new one for 30 dollars plus still got store credit for your trade ins. That was such a great deal, I remember getting new games basically for free.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone. My intent was not to imply or state that all EB or Game Crazy locations will no longer accept monetary exchange. I can only speak for the 2 locations nearest my home. They're not in a particularly good neighborhood so I could see why they would implement such a policy. Outside my area I couldn't tell you but a lot of retailers have been adopting a similar policy.

I admit I was hesitant when I first ponder the thought of trading in the majority of my games. However, while reflecting I realized I haven't played a single game I traded in since I originally completed them. They were gathering dust and I failed to conjure up one legitimate reason why I shouldn't. I had no use for them and I never considered the games I traded in as an investment. An investment connotes a return but unless you have an original unopened NES Dragon Warrior, receiving any return which is equivalent or greater than the original purchase is highly unlikely. A probably wouldn't go a game for a game but 34 360 titles I haven't played in 6+ months for a new Elite is well worth it IMO.

I would agree with that. I still remember when I wanted to buy a PS1 I sold my Sega Genesis. Gamestop was going to give me 25 dollars for it but a customer said he'd buy it all for 50. I joyfully accepted and put it towards my new PS1. Still regret that mistake. I should have kept it, I'd love to go back and play a few games, especially Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

I traded my console in at my local GAME store including 7 360 games and 2 xbox games i walked out with a gift card with £183 on it. Cash would been £143 so not too bad a deal.

For anyone in the UK (or New York City): Go to CEX as their trade in prices are FAR better than any games store's.

Just a few examples:

Burnout Paradise:

Gamestation trade-in (for in store credit) £25
Gamestation trade-in (for cash) £15
GAME trade in (for in store credit) £23
GAME trade in (for cash) didn't check
CEX trade-in (for in store credit) £30
CEX trade-in (for cash) £28

Their prices are far better than anywhere else.

Gamefly is now taking trade-ins of games that you can put their value towards the cost of monthly membership. I'm not sure what kind of prices they are giving customers since they just started the program but I have a few games I might send to them just to see.

Wow you guys get... very little for a trade in USA. Forza You'd get like £19 ($38) although our games do cost £40 ($80) but our moneys worth more thats just how things turn out. You get 'em sooner and cheaper, but ours are worth more
