So with Squares event in Japan theres been a lot of FF info, rumors, and pure hotness. Imma post it in this thread.
After a best buy sign was photographed showing a very mysterious game being released on August 17th, 2008. In fact that game was Final Fantasy VII. unfortunately it was probably a joke.
this was posted on a playstation blog earlier last week.
"We have an update to the information on the Final Fantasy info. If there will be a “new” PS3 version of Final Fantasy 7, it WILL NOT be a remake. There is likely to be a spin-off or a sequel to this popular game and exclusive to the PS3. I’m sorry if I got your hopes up about the FF7 remake
It is important to us to provide reliable inside info for example, on Trophies and firmware 2.40. Many of you have pointed out that Sony own the rights to Final Fantasy 7 so how could the original come to Xbox Live Arcade unless it was sub-licensed which Sony would unlikely do. Therefore we have to question the reliability of some of my insider’s information. Hopefully at the Sqaure Enix event or at the Tokyo Game Show, we will have more of an understanding on what Square Enix may have up their sleeves."
Now for FFXIII
Square has announced that the first playable demo will ship with the bluray version of advent children in March 09 in Japan. No word on english release (it better not be ****ing much later). Square has also made it clear that they are developing the PS3 version and porting to XBOX360 later. But Microsoft said it will release for europe and america simultaneous with the PS3.
"Now as to Microsoft's claims that the game will release simultaneously alongside the PS3 version in English territories, well, unless they know that the English PS3 version will be held up until the Xbox 360 version is ready – which would suck balls - then that contradicts what Square Enix told us directly."
Square also said a playable demo should be completed by october 9th for Tokyo Game Show.
and finally heres some new screenshots for your viewing pleasure
