dark knight confusion

ok, at one point in the dark knight joker said his dad came home drunk and said " why so serious" and cut his cheeks open like a smile. Later he said he gave the scars to himself to show his depressed wife who was disfigured that he loved her no-matter how she looked, and than she left him because of the way he looked. i don't know if anyone else noticed this. do you think its to cover up what really happened or it's just a plot flaw?

All I know is that he said both stories on purpose, it wasn't a plot flaw.

Well he did say that in the movie...but I think they made him say that so we the audience could see just how screwed up his mind really is.Because in the comics the joker doesnt have those scars on his face...and if he does they dont show them...all I know is he was dropped into sum chemical by batman and he came out like that.

It's not a flaw at all.
He's so crazy that even can't remember how he get those scars or didn't care.
Like in the comics he don't remember his true origin.

the point of the comments, by the directors own words were "joker does not need a backplot, he is the agent of chaos in batmans world and his biggest rival" In otherwords, his backplot is 1/1000th as interesting as what hes currently doing.

And it adds to the creepy fun!

I looked on wiki to find out more about the joker. They said the joker doesn't really have a background. He lies so much that even he doesn't know what really happen

it all depends on which story background/batman series you are talking about. Diff series have diff event backgrounds for the characters.

He's not saying how he really got them because that would be retarded. He's a sick, messed up character, he needs no back-story. It's just an excuse the rip somebody's face open, really.
