Default Help me please

So I'm going to get a 360, and I want help.
•No website is clear enough on this subject, can someone explain how the hard drives work? I don't understand the Xbox's memory system.
What do I need a hard drive for? What do I need memory cards for?
•Every website is far too clear on this, but I don't know if it's true. Is the Xbox 'Über loud', or is calling is really Über loud an overstatement?

the hard drive is built onto the side of the xbox360. it works just like a computer hard drive and can hold music, movies, game demos, pictures, and game saves. It is also a removable hard drive so theres really no point to get a memory card. i used to always just pop my hard drive off and take it up to the lan center to use my cod 4 xbl profile. the 360 used to be really loud (i have 1st gen and its super loud sometimes) but i believe (and others will know better than me) the new 360 has improved the sound issues 10 - fold. hope that helped. welcome to the 360 community

Thanks a lot.
Can you tell me what I can't do if I don't have a hard drive? It's just.. Premium/Pro is pretty expensive, and I'm only 14 so it's a big purchase for me.
And do you know if the newer 360s are more reliable?
Sorry for the lot of questions.

well with out a hard drive you'll need a memory card to save all your games, etc. it won't be big enough to store music/movies/pictures which isn't a huge deal. also you won't be able to download any entertainment (movies/tv shows) and you won't be able to download any demos. not huge hits but kinda limiting. The word on the street is the new 360's are definitely more reliable.

np hope this helps.
