Default Halo on Mobile Phones

Quote:
September 27, 2005 - Dialing the Master Chief.

One of the biggest video game franchises in the world is headed to the mobile game space: Halo. Microsoft Games Studio has tapped mobile maker IN-FUSIO to create a suite of applications (games, ringtones, etc.) based on the hit Xbox game, starring the Master Chief. Halo 2 cemented the franchise's place as a phenom, with first-day sales totaling $125 million. A movie based on the game is due in 2007.

"This partnership is first and foremost a creative one focused on delivering mobile applications true to the Halo universe," says Julian Corbett, Vice President, Business Development and Brand Partnerships, IN-FUSIO. "We are dedicated to expanding the franchise in ways that will be exciting for existing fans as well as delivering a fun and satisfying experience for a whole new audience."

While speaking to Mr. Corbett on the telephone yesterday, he did not exactly reveal what kind of content gamers will see, but we discussed that simply trying to shove a Halo action game on to today's handsets was likely not IN-FUSIO's path. Corbett wants whatever game they do end up making sense as a mobile game, and capitalizes on the platform's strengths. He hinted that IN-FUSIO is quite aware of Halo's community presence, and that could be a factor when it comes to mobile.

IN-FUSIO currently has a partnership with Microsoft Game Studios to produce and release games and content based on MSG franchises. Past releases have included Zoo Tycoon 2 and Midtown Madness 2 Mobile.

First Halo mobile content will not be seen until at least early 2006.

Here's hoping that it'll come to the UK, although that's doubtful.
