this is highly unlikely, but people are playing PSN and noticing that decent online play CAN be free, so it's gonna put preassure on MS to make live free or drop the price...whether they will or not i dunno

lol i took the spam out of his signature. I tend to take a little sympathy on the spammers who actually try to respond to real threads, although there responses are ridiculous.

xbox live will never be free however ive not got a problem with that where i do have a problem is that everyone in your family would have to buy xbox live each so that they can use there own gamertag which i think is a rip off so everytime i get xbox live it cost me £120 per year so that my family can play online so that where they need to make it cheaper in a family package

that all peeps

The only thing that comes close to this is:

Gtaiv: Xbox Live Goes Free Of Charge For Grand Theft Auto IV Expansion

Quote:
Displaying the same kind of "throw that money away" attitude that won them exclusivity for the Grand Theft Auto IV expansions, Microsoft have announced that Xbox Live Gold will soon go (sort of) free.

Between February 17 and February 22, anybody playing either Grand Theft Auto IV or its upcoming expansion, The Lost & The Damned, will be able to play free of charge. No Gold subscription necessary. But only those two titles! No sneaking in a free game of Gears or Halo.

It's not often Microsoft are this charitable with their online service, so you cheapskates had better keep those five days in your schedule open, make the most of it.

Why would they give up the money they are getting from us?

In my country, you can win 1 mounth Live Gold by register on the Halo Wars officiel website : Xbox.com | Trophée Halo Wars

"I register ! It's free... 1 month of subscription Xbox Live Gold given !"
Halo Wars ; Panneau de l'utilisateur ; enregistrer

It is one per Gamertag but according to supplies.

Microsoft make way too much money. They will never make LIVE free as it generates a substancial amount of their revenue. Think about it...

If you were selling the best cookies in the world for £10 each, and you ended up with £50,000 after a week - would you make them free?

Greed gets the better of us, and when it comes to large firms such as Microsoft, they just can't get enough, j-just can't get enough.

Yep, see in Japan. The Live on the original Xbox was free but it's over since 2005.

Like other people have said, I'd much rather pay a reasonable price for Live rather than have a bad experience and have it be free. I mean, its a whole lot better than paying $15 per month for MMPOG type games. Just think about how much money blizzard is making.
