Default i wish

I can see an argument for this...since we paid so much money for all of the other hardware...but I doubt it will ever happen.

Default No, it wont be

It will never be free, too many people are addicted and Microsoft gets too much money from XBoxLive

Stop spamming!

I thinks that Xbox Live is the best online service and I pay for something that has quality.

Its all about money, they make a killing from XBL, so it aint going to be free at all. I dont have a problem with its price, £40 a year to me is good value for all i get from it.

MS just let a bunch of people go, so they're obviously being hit as well. I don't see them changing their business model for XBL with this economic climate. Perhaps in the future, but like someone mentioned above, it's bad enough when you play against annoying 13 year olds, let alone younger. I kinda wish it was a 16 or over network, myself.

Considering the fact that they're making about $500 million + a year off of Live alone, I honestly doubt that Microsloth would let one of their few remaining cash cows make its way over the fence and escape.

I've never even heard the rumor, and I spend hours on Live each day. Don't be that gullible. I'm sure they would announce something like that significantly in advance, so people wouldn't be stuck with paid subscriptions to a free service.

Honestly, I would question the quality of what we were receiving if xbox live were to be free.

Although we have to pay for the service, I'm sure you will agree it is well worth it. The features and such that are offered on xbox live are outstanding.

Besides, you can see how a free internet networking system works by playing the PS3.

it'll never happen. the whole thing about paying for live is to keep it above psn and offer much more. that's why the ps3 had an internet browser. they needed to be able to compete with the xboxlive experience with out spending money.

While I have never heard it will be free, and even if I had, I highly doubt it would ever become free. People are right, it's a cash cow and MS will not let that go. I have, however, heard that prices may go down. I could see that, but it won't be by much.
