The only chance it would become free is in the next generation. If they just suddenly made it free now they would have to find some way to reimburse all existing gold members that paid for their subscriptions and to me, there isn't any fair or efficient way to do this.

I wish xbox live would become free... but no it's not... if it were it would probably be free on the original xbox(which came out when... 2000 or something like that...)

I don't think that Live will become free anytime soon. Besides, it's only $60 a year (I live in Canada, costs $60 here, not sure about U.S. or other countries); you can make that kind of money in one year, right? It's easy, and besides, you're paying for the best online services currently available.

no, xbox live will propably never be free. It's only $50 a year, so it's really not bad at all. but I could be wrong

I'm alright with paying the $4 a month or whatever nominal amount it is so long has Xbox Live continues to have dependable online connection, exclusive downloads, and exclusive multiplayer games. This has been fulfilled thus far and therefore I am content.

Never heard of that legitimately happening... sounds kinda like it has the same chance as hell freezing over.

I like having the money paid for XBL go to getting us exclusive DLC and the like anyways =D

No way, because xbox live is the best live experience online, and you always get your moneys worth, it would fall apart because all that money goes back and gets us cool things, like the new update.

I dont ever think It's going to be free.. We've been seeing kids with "Free XBOX Live" in their mottos since day 1.. It's never going to be free in my opinion.

It won't be free, but they are most likely going to drop the price down to $30 for the 12 month subscription cards.
