Xbox Live as far as I know of is not going to be Free anytime in the near future. From what I understand the Mircrosoft Migrant workers have misinformed your Friend. If they did plan on this. Dont you think they would make a public announcement

Personally that would be a horrible way to make money but a great way to market and compete with the PS3 and WIIs free internet multilayer. Even though it is worth the money

I don't think XBL will ever be free. I'll be honest here and say that I don't really want it to be free either. Fifty dollars a year doesn't seem bad to me, and it helps make the service better and more enjoyable. Take a look at the PSN. Its slow and is riddled with problems.

Nothing has been officially been announced, but I've heard rumors as well. With the economic down turn, less people have Xbox Live, so it's entirely possible Microsoft may at least LOWER the price.

Xbox Live is much more better and faster than the other services like PS3 and Wii.
Which is why we have to pay for Gold.

I heard something about this a while back. Some rumor one of my friends told me. He didn't have reliable sources though...

Although, I'd rather pay for a good gaming membership than have a free PS3 membership which isn't very good at all.
