Posts: 722 | There will be a play & charge kit available to buy as an extra (picture below). This plugs into your controller and recharges the rechargeable battery pack up while you play.
Alternatively if you don't want to buy this item you can recharge the rechargeable batteries the normal way using a normal recharger, but means you cannot play while they are recharging. Finally you can use normal batteries such as Duracell and just change them as they run out. MS estimate 40 hours of play time before the batteries run dry

As far as wired controlers go you can buy corded controller for your 360, but again these are not supplied with the standard Xbox, only a wireless controller. So by the time you've payed for a wired controller you may as well buy the play and charge kit and the rechargeable batteries.
Also on a side note your current Xbox controlers will not work with the 360, they are just not compatable.
Here's an old article posted on the home page about what comes as standard and what is an extra LINK

Posts: 98 | well imo i recon they should bring out x-box 360 wired controller's with the x-box 360 and leave it to the people that want the wireless controller's (not that i don't want 1).
it's just more efficiant for everyone.
And i get what you meen by saying thet MS need to make back money but surely at the prices of the game's and the console they should make it back in no time!

Also MS have said they will be making a loss on every Xbox 360 sold, can't remember the figure of the top of my head, but could be in the region of $50 on every console sold (I'm sure someone who knows the actual figure will correct me ).
I agree you should be able to have a choice whether you want to go wired or wireless with your controller choice, but unfortunately the market seems to be focussing on wireless for almost everything, including wireless internet connections. Like widescreen TV's, if this is what the manufacturers want to push then that's what we are forced into buying. It's just one of those things.

Posts: 98 | Well thanks for enlightening me on that one, i just seem to think the point of it is out of context, it is less efficiant for younger gamer's (no money) but i suppose people will probably want to go wireless anyway!!

According to Gamestops spec sheet the Play & Charge kit includes a rechargeable battery pack, however I did think these were seperate accessories until I saw thier spec sheet. LINK
Your wireless controller supplied with the 360 will come with normal batteries not rechargeable batteries.
There have been no prices released yet for any of the accessories, so we are just going to have to sit and wait for those.
Hope this helped, and don't worry about the questions. If you need help on anything there's sure to be someone on the forum that can help

Posts: 723 | I don't care about the cost; I am going to get the plug and play accessory. It's the best thing MS could have done IMO. I hate wireless things because of batteries, but with the plug and play, they help eliminate that factor. |

The Xbox 360, one wireless controller, an Xbox 360 headset, the composite-component/stereo A/V cables (although there was that article saying it wasn't to be included), power cable and an Ethernet cable.
The accessories that will be additional to the above and will need to be payed for on top of the basic 360 package include....
Wireless controller
Wired Controller
Rechargeable Battery Pack
Play & Charge Kit
Memory Unit (includes case)
Universal Media Remote
Quick Charge Kit
Wireless Network Adapter
Face Plates
S-Video AV Cable
VGA HD AV Cable
Component HD AV Cable
Xbox 360 Live Camera
The Play & Charge kit requires no baterries as one end plugs into you controller and the other into your 360 console and draws it's power from that. However what I didn't realise until replying in this thread is that the Play & Charge kit also includes the rechargeable battery pack for the controller (according to Gamespot), I always thought they were two seperate accessories
