Posts: 712 | I need some advice... I am 15 years old, and I have easily enough money to buy a 360. I've been waiting for it since May 20th, the day I pre-ordered, and have been saving my money and biding my time until it's release.
But my family is having a little financial trouble, and my parents think spending $500 on video games at this point is unacceptable, even though it's my money. I feel guilty even thinking about buying it, but I don't think I can resist.
Now, I've been thinking it'll be easier if I buy it as a Christmas present, but I don't know if I'll even be able to get one if I don't get it at launch.
Also, I am in no sense of the word poor. But my Mom is having trouble at work and wants to switch jobs, and my dad, who is a real estate agent, just hasn't been selling much of anything at all in Manhatten since 9/11.
What should I do?

What should I do? | Each person has their own response to moral dilemas'. If it were me, it would depend on how bad the situation was. If you had a 360, but no electricity, what's the point or if you had a 360, but no food. My wife went through something similar a while back. Her mom just didn't make enough money to pay the bills working 55+ hours a week, so my wife had to help her out before we were married even though she was 21 at the time and had bills of her own. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it for now. There is still plenty of time for things to shape up before the launch.

Posts: 712 | It's not that bad a financial situation (we can support ourselves), but my parents just think that I shouldn't be spending over $500 on video games...
I suppose the questions I really need an answer to are
1. How can I convince them?
2. Can I even get a 360 after launch but before Christmas?

2. Yes just check Walmart, Target, or any big retail store people wouldn't check (*cough* sam goody, costco *cough*). |

I decided to write them a 3 page letter explaining everything to them, and I think I have them won over.

Remember, I live in Brooklyn, an extremely urban area. I don't need a car. Quote: |

BTW, my Progress Report GPA is a 94.6 which is really good.
