Default Downloading slows my computer

for some reason whenever i'm downloading stuff my computer just slows down to a crawl, like the mouse takes ages to move, music and videos are unplayable because they skip so much and the computer just basically becomes unuseable.

when i reboot my computer it downloads fine for about an hour or so and then it begins to slow down while downloading and then gets worse and worse until soon enough it's back to the ****ing crawl state again. i'm at my wits end with this ****, anyone got any helpful ideas?

I have no idea what could be troubling it. When I download I, the only thing that goes kind of slow is loading up web pages, that's common I assume.

The top 3 things I would do to fix this problem is:

1. clear some space on the hard drive, I'd make sure I have atleast 1/6 of hard drive space open, why I dunno.

2. Run Disk Defragmenter and see if that helps.

3. Run Virus, Adware, Malware any kind of ware and see if anything comes up.

And if these things fail, then I'd probably resort to a full system restore if the whole thing if it bothered me a lot.

I'm sure you did 1-3 PJ, but I still hope this helps anyone.

Also it's probably not the best things to do, but these are the things that I would do. I'm not computer savvy at all though. I would love to hear what the actual problem and solution is though.

You can also check the event logs to see if there are any errors. It sounds like it might be a memory leak in one of the programs that you're using. This would be hard to trace. When it slows, can you close any programs that you're not using and see if it gets better?

It could also be that you're low on disk space.

yeah hedaikes i did 1 - 3 already, and i have most of my disk space free as well as a 750GB external hard drive. i've tried pretty much everything and just can't find any kind of solution. i have no idea what a memory leak is though nor do i know how to find one. and i've closed pretty much every program i could at times but it doesn't change anything i'm really stumped on this one and i dunno wtf to do about it, it's really annoying me
