ATI 500 mhz "Vs" Nvidia 550mhz

If all people looked at where the mhz numbers one could conclude that Nvidia card is slightly superior.

In truth, it may not be as effect as the ATI (360 fudo variant). For one, that extra 50mhz that Nvidia holds over ATI is quickly lost when you account for the 48-way parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines and unified shader architecture ATI included in its graphics beast.

Secondly, ATI has 10 MB of embedded DRAM. End of story end of Sony!!!

plus the RSX can't do FSAA (no more jaggies) and HDR at the same time, while XENOS can easily with no real hit.

also, it's interesting to point out that they are thinking of upping the clock speed on the XENOS.

Same rule goes with CPUs.... more Mhz isnt always better. The 10 Mb of embedded dram is another big feat over the nVidia chip.

you guys have to remember the cell technology here did you all see the technical demo REAL TIME of when only teh cell was used to generate teh massive mountainous terrain that was better than the ati GPU and the cell isnt even a GPU and sony has the nvidia im sayin that sony has the new xbox beat by 60 to 40.

We need to get both the consoles once they are released, sit them down side by side and run some demos on them. Up until them you don't know if they are really showing you the real thing or what

i really hope you're joking...because all those tech demos at e3 were prerendered cg of what they "hope the graphics will be"....and also, read the report on the gpu that i have posted in the hardware forums....if you know anything about technicals you'll be blown away.

Well, I think the next step for Sony fanbois is "victim", as their PS3 hype is starting to deflate more quickly and M$ is showing a lot more promise, I think the resentment towards M$ is likely to increase. Instead of attacking Xbox 360, they'll strike at M$ for buying everybody out. I am still rather perplexed at Sony, though. I think they went too far to entice consumers, and now they're having to backtrack on some things which has alienated some of their fan base.

Had I been in Sony's position, I would have still gone with Cell tech (new and innovative, although not game proven), but cut Blu-ray, Bluetooth and 1080p. Expanded the bottlenecked bandwidth problem, added a hard drive and given some glimpse of what they expect online play to be. In my opinion, if they would have done it this way, they could have beaten Xbox 360 on power, graphics and even a comparable price. However, instead they offer 3 options that may never be fully utilized; as we do not know if Blu-ray will win the Dvd-HD battle, using 7 blue-tooth controllers seems a little superfluous, and since less than 1% use 1080p currently [though it will rise to ~4% over the next 2-4 years].

Not sure what Sony was thinking, but it looks like M$ had the right idea, and because of that, I think there will be more PS3 victims pointing fingers at M$, even though it was Sony who screwed them.

i totally agree. i think sony will continue to cut features to try to drop price so they will still be able to compete with the 360.

also, the fact that ps3 fanboys have gotten quiet on all the boards i've checked seem to prove that there's nothing really bad to say about the 360 anymore. no more hype. no more guessing. it's all real and it's right in front of us.

For a second I thought u where a PS3 fanboy, to tell u the truth I’m not shore your not, that’s when I let loose. If u haven’t figured it out yet, I hate fanboys in general. Before Smerf told me about this site, I was used to being surrounded by PS3 fanboys on other sites.I had to always defend myself, and my point of view, so that’s where I got the bitterness from, I guess.
