I rather see a few taken apart xbox360 a few months in advance, and knowing that this may save a lot of time in releasing a mod chip. Think about it. They can now already start programming the bios etc. Save's time.
And who is to say that they havent gotten there hands on a final development kit somewhere. Hell, console's fall of the back of trucks all the time *lol*
I expect the moders to be ready or almost ready with the design of there mods when the xbox hits the streets.
And to be honest, i rather like to see a mod chip around release date, so i'm not forced to buy that wimpy 20GB hd, when i can add a 160GB ( there is talk that the 20GB hd is locked to the xbox360, and no other MS approved hd's can connect ... true or false, i dont know, but its something that may end up true, and having a mod chip makes the difference for me between buying a core with no hd, or a premium with a way to small hd ).
