Posts: 235 | Halo 2 is broken!!! This was the name of an article posted at 1up.com. The article is based around some of the flaws they felt let down the halo 2 Multiplayer experience.
Overall they listed 5 areas that they feel should be addressed in Halo 3. LINK
I think that there are some valid point in there - i especially agree with the weapon spawning. What u think?

Posts: 2,248 | Great article the 5 points named in it are exact reasons I don't play halo 2 as much as I use too. Especially the weapon spawning.

All real completive organizations use halo 1 instead of halo 2, for the same reason, (too flexible) |

Posts: 206 | My biggest conflict with Halo is the host bit, I hate it when other people get host and try to lag win, usually a poor job at standbying, or if its swords or shotguns, the host always wins.

Posts: 3 | I don't see much validity to this article, in fact it makes me mad that people can nit-pick so much about a game that has revolutionised online gaming (in terms of it's matchmaking system let alone in terms of gameplay and sheer fun)
I agree with one point only- If the banshee pilot has hold of the rockets it can get frustrating. However, this is usually only a problem on ascension and on coagulation.
The weapon re-spawn point is NOT valid (apart from the rocket's/banshee point - adding another rocket launcher to the map solves it straight away, as bungie have done already on coagulation i believe).
I love it when the other team gets snipers, so i can rush them and steal it off them. It's about knowing your surroundings and keeping your weapons, or throwing the right grenade, or launching a counter offensive - it's part of the skill of the game.
If you can't hold on to your weapon, and worse, if you can't use your intelligence to kill an opponent with the weapon you want, then you should be moaning about the fact that you're hands are probably to fat to grip the thumbsticks and not winging to bungie about halo2. As far as i'm concerned it is amazing, there's no better online FPS on Live.
The one real downside - the abundance of arrogant, immature, and winging players i have to endure when i'm enjoying a game of team slayer with 3 of my friends. Bad losers are one thing, but bad winners?! Gimme a break! |

What a complete load!!! "Revolutionised"? You have to be kidding. Obviously you have never played Unreal Tournament. Yes, the matchmaking is *kinda* nice... but Halo 2 falls short in terms of gameplay and "sheer fun". Unreal generally sets the bar for online FPSs because maps are balanced, weapon respawn times and points encourage multiple "optimal" routes, and server options are more flexible.
Granted, there are differences in how games are set up to exploit each platform's advantages (PCs excel in a "server/room" format while consoles excel in more of a "matchmaking" format; PCs can run on user servers, unlike LIVE, which is MS server dependant, etc.). However, Halo 2 would be more balanced and competitive if it stuck with some of the more standard FPS conventions established by Unreal and Halo: CE.
"The weapon re-spawn point is NOT valid ..."
Obviously you are unaware of an integral part of FPSs today, that of Running Routes. Effective utilization of timed weapon spawn points reduces camping and increases the number of competitive encounters with the enemy.
With posession-based spawning, the game tends to degenerate to a "who can aquire the Warthog and Rockets first" game. Once the balance of power has shifted, the strong team will tend to hole up in one area of the map, esentially letting the strong team "camp out" while the weak team takes one up the pooper.
With timer-based spawning, the team with the Warthog and Rockets can opt to hole up, but the opposing team can quickly gear up and effectively blow them out of their "campsite" in a relatively short period of time.
Thus, timer-based spawning rewards map familarity, route utilization, and rapid movements from location to location. Possesion-based spawning rewards a "who got there first" mentality and camping.
"As far as i'm concerned it is amazing, there's no better online FPS on Live."
True.
"The one real downside - the abundance of arrogant, immature, and winging players i have to endure when i'm enjoying a game of team slayer with 3 of my friends."
Also True. |

Posts: 806 | Halo 1 was a lot more fun in my opinion, but have any of you people bitching seen the making of disc? It explains why a lot of things in Halo 2 were done they way they were done. If you haven't, I suggest you go find a copy and watch it. It's really interesting. |

Posts: 287 | 1up have certainly a tendence to bash anything Xbox-Related. Except from Team-Ninja products, just because Itagaki give them some exclusives they don't wanna loss.
Halo2 is obviously not a perfect game, and if you sit down and review any single game around, in any platform with enough patience, I bet you'd find an even bigger list of flaws to be fixed, specially in a FPS.
Fortunatelly, Halo 3 has been in development in paralel with Halo 2, therefore, expect all those flaws to be gone... and maybe new ones to appear, why not? In the end, it's the overall experience which counts, not every little tiny mistake one can find about a game. |

However, you can't judge a game by those alone. I absolutely love Star Wars Obi-Wan even though it was choppy and buggy on the xbox.

The main thing that bothers me is the automatic scope exit when you are getting shot. I usually die becuase I keep trying to zoom back in. I doubt this will ever change but I thought i'd let you all know im angry.
