Default No more xboxes??

My friend that works in the electronics depart. said the xbox rep was in the other day and mentioned that M$ is going to stop producing xboxes very soon (he gave me a month but i cant remember right now) that seems strange, but could be great news if its true. That could be a boast that they feel confident enough in their ability to produce and to keep the 360 on the shelves that they no longer see the need to make xboxes. I dunno it just didnt sound right to me, i mean you could still find a ps1 in stores last year. Anyone heard anything on this subject, or what do you think about it?

I suppose it makes sense regarding cutting back on the manufacturing costs of two systems. I must admit I thought MS would do the same as Sony did with thier PS1, and keep manufacturing the Xbox well into the life of the 360, obviously not a viable option.

I like my theory it makes for a happier world, just wishful thinking though, ill have to go and ask him about it again tomorrow, and ill try to find out nething i can when the rep returns, sometimes he actually tells us stuff, other times he just gives us things like 360 lanyards, win -win situation for me. But yeah i thought stopping production altogether sounded a little strange, at least i know its not just me

I think they will still produce them, but not as much. Plus, after a couple of years so one is gonna remember a game they used to love and get an old XBOX again for tha game. Depending on if itd backward compatable(SP) or not.

I read somewhere on the net around the time that it was announced that the X360 would be using ATI cards that MS told nVidia to stop production of their cards for the XBox because MS was going to produce just enough XBox consoles to use up the stock of nVidia cards and that was it. Apparently nVidia and MS have not parted on friendly terms. nVidia is upset that they are using ATI for the X360 but I forget if MS because it is a better card or price or being able to keep up with predicted production levels of the X360.

Microsoft is taking a hit with every X-Box they sell, so it's the best thing for them to do. Another plus, is that they could use the XBox's production lines for the 360. This is probably an atempt to create more 360s this holiday season.

I'm sure that production won't stop on the Xbox for some time, for there are still games in devlopment for it. However, it may be cut short from here on out. That being said, the Xbox may be just as hard to find this holiday season, as the Xbox 360. Then again, maybe not. I'm sure there are still some large stock piles of Xbox's hanging around. So that may be able to supply the needed demand through the years end, or further. We all know Japan won't have an issue here.

Still, once the holiday shopping dies down, both systems should be easy to come by. I'm also sure the XBox will be in, at least, some kind of development for a while. Just halted for a few months, to help the 360 out.
