Posts: 341 | How much time should it take you to finish a game? I was just reading a Quake 4 PC review on ign.com and they said that it should take around 10 hours to finish the campaign that is less than a weeks worth of playing a game. Which in my opinion seems really short unless they were playing it in god mode and could not be killed. I would rather have a game take anywhere from 30-50 hours to finish, especially if I am spending $60 on it.

Posts: 2,248 | Depends on each person myself I don't have time to play as much as I would want to between college and work and stuff I have to do around my house. So games for me take much longer for me to complete.

Posts: 287 | It depends a lot on who is playing the game.
For example, Ninja Gaiden could be finished in less than 10 hours, but for someone who really wants to search for the weapons and hidden places, it's gonna take a lot more than that. Most estimations are based ona situation where you really rush the game to finish it.
I.e. Kameo is estimated to take around 20-30 hours to be finished, and 40 hours if you want to the the most of the game. In another example, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, is said to give you an insane amount of 200 hours of open play. There's so much detail and free will in that game, that it could take you that long to get into the mere bones of it.
If you're looking for long times of single playing gamming, I'll recommend you both of them, Kameo and Oblivion. |

Posts: 30 | As much time as you want. IF I REALLY enjoy the game, I tend to dick around alot. Like Mercenaries, which was just a blast to do absolutely nothing specific. I think I played that game for around 60 hours before finishing it. I would just play for 30 minutes or an hour blowing things up

Posts: 542 | Well you have to look at the game as a whole, not just one part of it.
Replay Value
Some games may take you 5 hours to complete, but the re-play value is so high that you'll end up playing it a dozen times.
Story mode extra fetures
Some games take you a short time to beat straight up, but offer hundreds of small things to do. Enough to keep you busy for hours beyond hours.
Multi-player mode
Some games are designed to be played with others, even though they have a single player mode. You have to think, you can easily spend over 100 hours online with your buddies.
Otherwise
If you think a game may take your a short while to beat, and you don't feal like droping the $50-60 bones. Take it for a rent first. See if you like the game, are wait tell it goes down in price.

Posts: 341 | Kameno at 20-30 would not be bad plus the horsing around time. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion at 200 hour would be sick, probably the type of game that I would play halfway put it down for a month or so and then come back and finish it. I liked KOTOR, it tool me around 40+ hours the first time while to trying to find out what you can and can't due but the second time, speeding through it still to me 22-25 hours and it was actually easier to speed through going down the dark path. GTA:SA I have been horsing around with for like 40 hours. I dunno, Quake 4's strength was suppose to be the single player missions this time around and 10 hours seems way too short to me. Sort of thinking that maybe, I should not have pre-ordered it. I will keep my fingers crossed and if that fails then the pedal to the metal on NFS:MW

Posts: 1,611 | If you suck at games then it should take a lot longer, so it really depends on your skill level and how much you play, like xbox-dad said.

Posts: 341 | Homework to do? Sorry I graduated from school a long time ago DAD. I have not appointments today with clients so I have a bit of time. The only reason that I brought it up was because I recall on TechTV about a year ago, they were talking about the dollar value of video games compared to other forms of entertainment such as movie and comparing the hours of entertanment per dollar. How some games that are short but have more replay ability allow gamers to get more for their dollars. When I saw that Quake 4 was so short, I was just wondering what other people thought. If you do not like the thread you did not need to post.
PS Nice to see that I helped you out in looking for hockey information on your second threading crying for information on hockey since sooo many people responded to your first thread looking for stuff that you feel you need to give me bs now. So why don't you worry about your own kids homework DAD and stop trying to take a shot at me.

Posts: 341 | Turkey, the point of the thread is how long it should take YOU to finish a game. Wondering what sort of game lengths to you like. Everybody but you and DAD got it. It has nothing to do in judging my skills, I can play. I have finsihed somewhere between 20 to 25 of the 41 games that I have. GTA series I have finished the story parts but not the 100% so those are some that I have not. NFS:UG I need like 3 or 4 more races. I just thought that maybe just maybe someone has played a game that was very good that I would not have thought about playing and spark an interest. Like with Elder Scrolls have 200 hours, I started to look more into it because I might want to get it at some time. Before I had not given it a second thought.

Posts: 327 | My apologies phantom.Just assumed you were younger ,no shots intended bro. You are right about the hockey thread nobody in this forum except 3 of us
even care about hockey.I find that 90% of people in this forum dont even care about sports and that is fine because I joined 360 sports forum which is strictley
sports threads,no threads about pizza, movies and e-mailing bill gates. That is why I dont post here too much anymore,I just scan the forums once in awhile.
Also the maturity level is kinda low here and people are to thin skinned.
Keep up the good work mods.

Posts: 1,098 | I would say that if it takes AT LEAST 20 hours to finish a game, it is worth it. We all have been ripped off in the past by paying $50 for a game, and finishing it that very night. That makes me want to take it back.
