Question about 360 network wireless adapter

I'm working getting what I need to get hooked up on live. I have to get a wireless router, but my question is, do I have to buy the $99.00 "xbox 360" wireless adapter? Is there something else that will work that might not be that expensive. I'm sure you're paying alot for brand name with the 360 adapter. So far people I have asked at Circuit City, Best Buy, etc....said I should get the 360 adapter, but I get the feeling they don't actualy know and they're saying that so I spend more money.
Any suggestions?

You can really buy any of the brand name Wireless Adapters. I.E. Linksys, netgear, etc... Just make sure your network matches up. (A, B, or G)

get the one that is made for the console, last thing you want it your other wireless adapter giving you problems after the fact that you cant return it and you have to buy the M$ one anyways

Quantum is right about that, also the other ones arent that much cheaper. I personally own the MS one for 360.

Ok, thanks guys. I figured I would wind up getting the MS adapter anyway. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting something I didn't have to get. At least it looks nice and matches the system.

Yeah at least they made it so it clips to the back of the 360 so you don't have something having to sit next to it like the old one. You really cant even see it unless you flip the antenna up.
