If there’s anything gamers usually judge about a video game console, even before its games most of the time, one can take a wild guess that it’ll be the controller. Controllers are the peripheral that we either love or hate with all our hearts, but at the end of the day has proven to be the most necessary over the past three decades. Without a controller, the character would just sit there lazily waiting for us to do something while we contemplated what we would do if we actually had a controller. And how many times have you felt the panic of watching your controller disconnect in the middle of a campaign or even worse, a multiplayer match. As so much hinges on what a controller can do and how comfortable it is, this once simple accessory has over time become a cornerstone of what we expect from our consoles and if the controller is a nightmare to hold, then odds are we won’t be playing any games that were meant to use it.

Yeah I don't agree about the Dreamcast and original xbox controllers.. they should have been further down the list.. and PS2s should be higher.. I liked that one.. It was multiversital except for FPSs.. But it's my favorite controller to get down on fighting games.

The original xbox controller was absolutely horrendous, I despised that piece of junk. The 360 controller is my personal favorite it just fits so perfectly. Its amazing how a little size reduction can take one of my least favorite controller designs and make it my favorite.

My favourite is Xbox 360 and Super Nintendo.I personally hate the Ps3 controller because of the close placement of the analog sticks and however the arrows are the main buttons even though so few games use them as the main use of movement.

And Dreamcast was my favorite because I could call my plays with the MU when playing NFL 2K

Never played NFL2K.. but I really liked the MU.. You could have raised Chao's on there from sonic the hedgehog like a virtual pet and they evolve, grow and change colors, characteristics and all that shat. It was really cool and interesting. But the controller itself was too big and clunky for my taste.

The PS3 I don't like because they made the R2 AND L2 buttons into triggers and they throw me off when I play fighting games.

The Xbox 360 controller is the best. with the PS2 controller being in a close second.
The XBox 360 controller is VERY nice, minus the d-pad. I think the d-pad was make more like a set of 4 buttons than a controller.

was the gamecube controller out before the xbox one? i found the gamecube one most comfortable. ps2 controllers hurt my thumbs. but the smaller xbox controller was the most comfortable of all.
