Posts: 1,365 | Artifacts on Xbox 360 Kiosk Machines? Quote:
Someone sent us these pictures that they took at a Walmart, which show two different games being played at a Xbox 360 kiosk. Notice anything strange?
Apparently the artifacts you can see came up during gameplay and also on the game menus. Note they were not present during video playback. Could the Xbox 360's be getting burnt out, do they need a reset, or is there some other explanation?
Important:
We are certain this is nothing major to worry about, as there are literally thousands of Xbox 360's out there at this very moment being used heavily 24/7. It is important to remember that this is the first and only reported occurence of this happening and it could be due to a number of reasons including inadequate cabinet air flow, heat, moisture.

Posts: 542 | Hmm, I wonder. Being on two games, you can rule out the software. Then again, it's all on the dard drive, so maybe something is wrong with the HD and not the 360 it self.

Posts: 723 | well, does anyone know the condition that the 360 is in?
It could be data corruption, but I don't think so because the vids are fine...
Could that one be one of the pre-finalized models that needs to be replaced? If so, I have nothing to worry about!

Posts: 1 | Its probably that the 360's that were sent too all the wallmarts weren''t the final builds. Or maybe the demo softwre is a final versions of the game and were finalized on the last dev kit, and the 360's in the wallmarts are a version back. but who am I. It just needs a new Driver thats it folks .LOL. |

Posts: 502 | yeah hopefully its just because it was a demo or how the 360's were setup software wise. I personally didn't see anything like that happening at the walmart or the new EB kiosk that was put in yesterday. I played some call of duty 2 tonight and it looked fine. So hopefully its an isolated incident (maybe that 360 is one some genius put a light next to it and melted the harddrive haha)

Posts: 6 | think about this
a highly advanced computer (the xbox360) in a encased area with little ventalation....
if any of you have messed with overclocking you should know what happenes when video memory gets too hot
plus they are on like 24/7 and are being played the ENTIRE time |

Posts: 48 | its what happens when u put a very powerful machine in a tiny area and let mongrols play it all day. The poor 360 is being abused! I guess the PS3 will just explode when its kiosks are released, because the console case has no freakn ventilation at all! |

Posts: 2 | The video card on that unit is most likely corrupt. No conclusions about the quality of the XBOX360 can be drawn from a single instance like this. It's best to take a wait and see attitude about this. |

Posts: 2,650 | I told u guys!!!! The first lineup of systems are crap! If you dont want to be screwed out of $400, get a warranty. Chances are, all of our systems will do this, then they will make a newer version of 360. |

Posts: 502 | well I'm sure its happened. I mean I'm sure most of us have seen pc games that do that when you've been running your comp too long or had a fan go out. The heat just makes the video card perform poorly. Could be any number of variables causing this issue and its just right now a 1 case scenario. So like someone else mentioned could even just be a defect. You send out 10,000+ kiosks odds are ones gonna have a defective Xbox. It just happens and thats life. But yeah everyone I know is getting a warranty because yes everyone knows that the first run of new consoles usually have production issues and the 2nd line out (and so on) are always more refined and of better quality. Its been like that with most every system

Posts: 1,098 | Judging by the way the kiosks are set up, I'd bet the issue is overheating. Not to mention that the hardware in the kiosks aren't final version either. Anyone remember the 180 pre-release kiosks crashing to the green screen of death? Same issue.

Posts: 502 | wait the 360's in them aren't final version? I thought I read somewhere that they -were- because it talked about how sad it was 10,000 people would miss out on a 360 because they were strapped into kiosks...I mean is it maybe the software in the is older but I thought everything said the hardware was set since they had been producing final models since before the kiosks went out by a few months? o_o

I could be wrong with the 360.
