This is a good question. From my experience working at a game rental store, that they will arrive 2-3 early. This way, the potential window for leaked consoles is small. This minimises the chance of someone getting a 360 way too early, while at the same time ensuring they will arrive by launch day.
Halo 2 is a good example. I got my copy three days before release because I had a friend working at a store that got theirs on that day. His manager let him take out copies for his friends.
Even though we got ours early, there were still a good number of people playing Halo 2 on Live. Not a ton, but a pretty good number. MS probably didn't care because it was so close to launch anyway. No harm, no foul. |
