Posts: 722 | Xbox 360's Missing Cables - By 1UP 1UP have posted news that MS won't be including the basic Composite cables (the yellow, red, and white things) in with the 360. Sounds a bit odd to me since these have always come as standard with a console as far back as I can remember, but 1up's article is below.... Quote:
When you purchase a new console you expect the manufacturer to provide everything necessary to have it up and running. The included cables and such might not be the best, but you can always pick up that S-Video cable later. If Microsoft's to be believed, though, their upcoming Xbox 360 won't even include basic audio/visual cables.
At the recent Xbox Summit, Microsoft showed off preliminary designs for the box that will eventually house Xbox 360. On the side, a list rattled off what's inside: Xbox 360, hard drive, wireless controller, headset and Ethernet cable. Composite cables (the yellow, red, and white things) have been a standard inclusion in consoles for years, but are nowhere to be found.
For all of Microsoft's hooting and hollering about the 'HD Era,' they can't find a way to squeeze the basics into their machine? It's a fishy idea, and after contacting Microsoft, we were immediately brushed away, as the company doesn't comment on "does not comment on rumors or speculations."
Seeing as how this is hardly a rumor, we pressed the issue further, but Microsoft was still checking with their teams as of this writing.
We'll hopefully have a clearer answer tomorrow, but in the meantime, we're crossing our fingers the Japanese listing is tentative, a mistake or something else entirely.

Posts: 1,875 | I would feel inclined to believe that something would be included so that at minimum, you buy the consloe plus one game, and you are ready to play on your TV. By not doing so, they are alienating potential customers and pissing off the rest of us, even if we don't use the composite connectors. |

Posts: 450 | That would suck. What ever happened to the good old days when a system came with two controllers, a game and everything you need to hook it up. |

| It would be problem but you wouldn't technically be paying more money because you get a headset and live included so you would be paying the same amount no matter how you look at it. Especially as Xbox 360 live will be such a big part of the console.
It would be unlikely that they dont include any video or audio cables especially since they are aiming for a bigger audience that don't know whether they should by extra bits or not.
As for the usb cable, it would especially suck if you couldn't recharge your controller after the first great hours of gameplay just after you have first set it up.

Posts: 723 | This will really blow if they don't include some way to hook up the 360! I would rather have the basics then the on-line stuff! If I find out they are NOT going to have some form of a cable to connect it to a TV, say bye bye to one customer! |

Posts: 66 | The composite or HD cables are Red, Green, and Blue and allow for connection to a HD set audio is transmitted seperatly on RCA connectors or a Optic cable. Standard RCA connectors are Red(Right Audio), White(Left Audio), Yellow(Video) these have been the mainstream for years. Since the new Xbox360 is designed for the HD Era hopefully they will include composite type cables, the downfall would be to those who do not have an HD television. It will certainly be interesting to see what type of cables are packaged with the console. |

Yeah Composite is the way to go. Also, it should be noted that there is a lot of confusion between Component (AV) and Composite (RGB) |

Posts: 66 | Good Point about understanding the difference between composite and component cables. I was hoping to be able to use my Monster HD cables with the new 360, however it does not look like that will be possible. It will be interesting to see what cable configuration Microsoft will ship with this November. |

Posts: 452 | It should, its probably a small mistake on M$'s behalf.
I remember the console "The Phantom" a few years back got criticism, as they forgot to include a Power button for the console
