Posts: 62 | Will the characters of Xbox360 ever become a pop culture phenominom like NES? Nintendo makes some cool games based on franchises they own. Their characters are known by every gamer, no matter if you even hate Nintendo games. Donkey Kong, Mario, Luigi, Princess, Wario, etc etc. Playstation has that dude from God of War, the Cloud, Solid Snake, that dude from Devil May Cry, etc etc.
What does Xbox have? We obviously have the Master Chief, Cortana...and who else? Basically, I just want to see an Xbox Cart game, sorta like Mario Kart haha. I've been thinking about this for a while, and I can't really think of many significant Xbox characters, other than the ones I listed from only 1 game.

Posts: 44 | Nintendo has it's characters because a lot of them were introduced around the time when video games were really starting to become mainstream (i.e. NES with Mario, Zelda, etc.) and they were lovable characters at a time when that was exactly what a lot of people were looking for.
Nowadays things are different. But I would say MicroSoft has the opportunity here to do that same thing now that we're in the Next-Gen era. Where Nintendo has it's characters, though, Xbox has it's online community.
Just my opinions, anyway.

Posts: 236 | The problem is other than the chief most of the memorable characters on xbox can also be found on the other platforms. Microsoft definitely needs to work on better exclusive titles. |

Posts: 802 | IF M$ gets enough characters it would be pretty cool/hilarious to have a fighting game like Super Smash Bros. but with M$ characters.

Posts: 281 | Well, i think Splinter Cell aswell but before anyboady comes and says that it's Multi-Platform, it came on Xbox first. But maybe MC aswell as he probably is the only reason the Xbox was a (marginal) Sucsess. |

Just my opinions, anyway. | I agree with you, when the NES was released that was something new that no one had ever really seen before except on atari but that wasnt really mainstream. I dont think there will ever be another character to become as popular or as widely known as Mario. Just think we had a Mario TV show that really sucked LOL and a movie and you couldnt go anywhere in the late 80's without seeing a Mario t-shirt, lunchbox or just about anything that you could slap the name on. Characters back then had a type of cuteness about them that appealed to even the ladies, now you ask most any girl who masterchief is and they wouldnt have any idea what in the world you were talking about. MS would have to come up with something way different than what they have now to appeal to more people other than 13- 30 year old men and have a mainstream character but like I said before it would never be a Mario.
