Who Knows for sure how walmart is doing their launch?

well see i've been calling walmart like all day today because i decided that i'm gonna get a 360 from them on launch because my preorder @ gamestop isn't on first shipment. so i talk to my local walmart and the guy says something about maybe having tickets that you pick up on the 21st and then bring on 22nd and get a 360, but he also said that he doesn't know for sure and that i should call back tomorrow to find out....well i don't wanna wait bc i'm so freakin anxious about this that i'm about to pop so do any of your guys' walmarts know for sure how they are doing it and if so could you tell me?

the only thing ive heard is that they will be sellin them in layaway thats what my walmart said and they still dont know how many their gettin... i did the same thing dude my gamestop told me i was gonna get one at launch then told me i wasnt so i took my money back went to toysrus and the manager said he guarantees me one so i guess i pretty much got one

nice lol, so they won't be selling them in the electronics u think? they will have them in the layaway area, if so that will be great

Well, I work at Wal-Mart and here is what I know.

#1. We do not know as of right now how many units we are getting in.
#2. There will indeed be tickets, they are #'ed. There are 2 sets of tickets. One is for the 299 system, the other is for the 399 system. Green tickets are 299 while the silvers are 399.
#3. We are only giving out the # of tickets that equal the # of systems I.E. 20 systems (10 core, 10 prem) equal 10 399 tickets and 10 299 tickets, then sale is over, even if we have over 100 tickets for each system (which we do).
#4 Paperwork says to not hand out the tickets NO EARLIER than 10pm EST Nov 21st.

That is all the information I have.

Mayoboy - Do you line up somewhere for the tickets? Is it one ticket per person? If you have any info, I would appreciate it.

Well what they told us is that they are giving out the tickets and systems in layaway, not electronics. Your store might be different but mine here in NC is the way I am describing and they will not hand out the tickets before 10pm. They also stated it's 1 per person to give everyone a fair chance at receiving a console. I'm not bs'ing anyone either, I've been there over 6 years.

PSS and to add 1 more line of information here. The paperwork says all of this will be handed out by the 3rd shift manager, not the electroncs associate so unless you have a really great relationship with the managers, then the people who say they are pulling strings to have them held are sadly mistaken unless they can somehow pull of that "understocking" bullcrap because it just aint gonna happen. There will be inventory count preps done on the 20th to ensure no one is screwing with the tickets (associates) and to make sure they are all there by 10pm est Nov 21st.

Geez, I keep editing my posts lol. One more thing, my store is a 24 hr store, thats why I mentioned the 3rd shift manager and the 12:00 am release.

ok sry about this but 2 more questions here. ok 1 how much are the tickets and 2 do you still have to pay full price of the 360 after buying a ticket.

oh gotcha i'll see about puttin one on layaway if i can. but i'm glad you told me that about the if u get out of line your screwed thing lol otherwise i probly would have. oh and also i only meant that thing about the price if the tickets did cost anything like would the cost of the ticket be deducted lol

Tickets are free, just handed out to 1st come 1st serve basis as to who is in line, and the tickets plainly states on the stub itself: "Ticket does NOT guarantee a purchase of xbox360 system" What this means is that you cannot leave your place in line at 10:30pm and come back at 11:55pm and bump back in line. If you move, you're screwed, simple as that.

As far as paying the full price once you have a ticket, I guess only if you have the cash LOL, but seriously, I'm pretty sure you can put it on layaway. The ticket just gives you a system, that is if you stay in line.

Ya, just make sure you don't leave you place in line just to be sure cuz that quote I included in my previous message is exactly what it says on the ticket about not being guaranteed a system.

well, i work at a supermaret, and let me explain u guys someting, a shift manager is not that high up. im only a cashier in my store, and if they sold them their like that, i would proabbly be able to get a few tickets. for gods sake one of my shift managers is a drug dealer!

I'm not sure when people might start lining up at my store. I know when the PS2 came out, my friend was 12th in line and he got there at 10:30pm that night and still got one but I believe this is a bigger launch. I would assume around 6-7pm and some really nerdy peeps (maybe 2-5 peeps) lining up around 12-1pm that day. I'm pretty much guaranteed one even though I get off work at 10pm that night, about the same time they start handin the tickets out. Guess I'll just wait and see. I bought PGR3 tonight as we unpacked it out of the boxes in electronics lol.

Ok, well I went to my Wal-Mart and they said the same thing about handing out tickets at 10 PM. I forgot to ask if it was in lay-away or not though. This is a 24 hour store, too.

The thing i don't get, what was said above. Whats the point of giving out tickets if we cant leave after they give them out anyways??? Isnt that the point to not have people clogging up the store waiting all night?? Why give out tickets if we have to wait there anyways??

I think we will be able to leave once the tickets are handed out and then return at 12 to purchase. Since only as many 360's they have is how many tix are being handed out, there will be no question as to who gets one and who doesnt. Ya know??
