Is SONY is scared of the 360?

Okey this only speculation but I recently discovered that there are more SONY commercials coming on TV than usually could be a sign that SONY is scared of Micosofts XBOX 360.

Define "more than usual".

It is the 'Holiday Season' you know so there will always be more games and consoles advertised around this time.

Anyway wether or not Sony is 'frightened' of MS is pretty irrelevant, if they are not then they are stupid and arrogant.
Sony is a smart company, too smart to not be wary of such a big competitor.

Because IF Microsoft sends a massive amount of 360 units before Christmas.
Sony thinks that they may lose some hype for PS3 next year.

A company that currentky owns 70% market share is probably not very scared of anyone. I love xbox, but even with the 360 released the number of people waiting to buy the PS3 is still higher than the number of people who want the 360.

Well, I think Sony has put itself into an arrogant mode and is not too concerned with the 360 for the moment. IMO, Msoft has kinda screwed the pooch by not letting the 360 be as accessible as it should have been. It'll be interesting as the 360s are flying off the shelves in the US and Europe, but I bet they'll be some in Japan gathering dust in stores. Msoft catered to the wrong demographic, especially since there are very few games that appeal to the Japanese market right now.

But, the 360 is a formidible thorn in Sony's side. If the PS3 does not launch until `07 (which still very probable), then Sony will start to worry as the 360 garners support from gamers and programers alike.

Anyway, it is too early to tell who is afraid of who. In the long run, any console company should fear Msoft, as they have deep, deep pockets and will not go away anytime soon [really, give me one other company that lost 5 billion dollars on a product and had the gall to produce another?].

if anything they should be more cautious, they're in a very similar position that Nintendo were all those years ago when Sony launched their new fangled PlayStation gadget.

I have a PS1,PS2,PSP and now the Xbox360 I don't consider myself a Sony fan,but when the Xbox was released I didn't feel buying one, I guess because the games for the PS2 were comming like mushrooms, the MS console was 2X or 3X stronger than Sony but didn't stop their sellings to keep going.
The question is how could a console with half of the potential of the Xbox keep the competition? is it because the games manufactures were giving more attention to them?? or whatelse could be??
The only thing I know is that they are not sleeping, and if it's taking so long to release the PS3 is because they are preapering something huge!!

sony is sitting back right now trying to make sure that they don't have the same problems!

why worry about some thing that hasn't produced any real threat yet!

until the 360's games inprove and the problems stop, (and of course, if sony fails to make a quality product) , there is nothing to fear.

If they were preparing for something huge they would atleast try and make there online experience for the consumer alot better. I find it funny that when Xbox1 came out alot of analists claimed it was too soon to bank on stricty broadband gaming...but in the end we all know it was the better system. And now they are complaining that 360 is directed toward HD, and thats too early too. Anyway back to the Sony scared bit....no. If you pay attention to there strategy its simple. Just to saturate the market with there games and systems, cuz then to alot of consumers it just looks like the only choice. Every holiday season Sony does this, its a battle for thexmas dollar and they know right now 360 can't keep up numbers wise so they will advertise there systems that ARE availible. What do you think mommy and daddy will do when they can't get a new 360 for lil Johnny? Wrap nothing? No...they'll goto the next best thing, and with everyother commercial being about Sony, the un imformed parent will buy.

sony might be scared because of the look of the console

the ps3 doesn't look as modern as the 360
and consumers automatically go and look at the more modern product (well i would) and then consumers will buy 360 because they think they are getting a more advanced product for their money(which they are)

And i can't blame sony being scared by the 360 who wouldn't
