Posts: 68 | Xbox 360 Launch Details "Today Piper Jaffray research firm released some information on Microsoft’s next generation console Xbox 360. According to their research, the Xbox 360 will come in two flavors. One will be a value version that will be priced at $299. The other version will be priced at $399 and will include "additional hardware components (e.g., hard-drive option, extra controller, memory option) that core users will likely buy anyway." The research also confirms 15 titles available by launch with up to 40 titles by years end. At the moment there are over 160 Xbox 360 titles in development around the globe.
Piper Jaffray is expecting that 1 million units will ship in the U.S., 400,000 in Europe, and 200,000 units in Japan by the end of 2005. Microsoft would not provide any firm details about how many Xbox 360s will be available at launch. Everything at this point is on track for a successful launch."
That sentence has me worried... |

That sentence has me worried... | how old is that article? because it's wrong.
ms stated that the 360, not the premium 360, WILL come with a removable hard drive. that automatically makes this article false.
another thing is, why would they sell a console for 399 bucks when it only costs 370 to manufacture?
they're going to take the $70 loss and make it up with software and accessory sales.
sorry, but that sentence doesn't have me worried...

Posts: 68 | This article was apparently written today. I failed to find the direct article on Piper Jaffray's website, so you guys can look for that if you want to. Once again, "analysts" are making predictions. Microsoft didn't state that they would lose $70 on the 360, analysts did, just as they wrote this article. It seems these analysts are the only ones providing us with all the news and information. If both of these statements are true, (which I doubt) I would imagine Microsoft would sell their system at that price to make profit. That's why you sell products at higher prices than they cost you... |

Posts: 1,875 | Get us a link, Exxo, otherwise I'm going to be pacing in circles over the next 3 months.
And smerf01, I think the "additional components" would cause the price to rise. If the $399 is a bundle options that included a game and a "plug-n-play", I may be interested. |

Posts: 68 | I can't seem to find Piper Jaffary's "report", but this news is all over Xbox 360 websites (except for this one ofcourse). But once again, this statement is from "research." Microsoft has yet to confirm or deny anything. So lets continue playing the waitng game, shall we? |

Posts: 1,875 | No worries, Exxo, they posted it on the front of this website about a half hour ago. Nice job for getting us the info early, though. And apparently the report came from Forbes.
As I posted elswhere, I think the HD drive should be included in both versions, not just the "additional componenets" version. But, since htey are offering a option pack version, I may just get it to save time later. |

Posts: 723 | But now I want to know the diffrences between the 2 diffrent packages! IMO, if the bas system is exactly the same, (they both have the same porst and capabilitys, like 2 memory card slots, ect.) and is comes with the HDD, I will deafentally get the basic model. But if something big is diffrent, I will be annoyed and have to cut corners just to pay an additinal $100, which will suck! |
