Default Three red lights flashing

I got the three red lights flashing last night so I turn it off and took off the hard drive and all the cables a couple of times in a row and it seems to be allright now. I have tried turning it on and off several times and no red lights.
MS says it is the hard drive and is sending me a box to return it. My question is should I send the whole unit in even if the red lights are not flashing ? how could they diagnose the unit if the red lights are not on ? any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Frank

That happened to me about 2 months ago.... I freaked out, but decided not to send in the box before I was completely sure that the problem was internal... Unplugged everything...Then put everything back in... The 360 came back to life and never died since ... Amen ....

I think it must have come from that A/V cable cause there is no clicking sound when the thing is completely inserted and locked in the 360, so through time it must have slipped out or something... It could happen especially seeing how thick the actual cable is; as soon as you twirl it a bit it pulls out the plug from the socket...They're pretty hard to manipulate...
