Default HELP!! Just Cause with glitchy graphics

Hey all, I'm new here but a hardy gamer of some years..

Yesterday i bought Just Cause (pal version UK). When I fired it up within 10 minutes some sections of the game had strange graphics problems. the best way to describe it is imagine looking at a disco light with rays coming at you, it affects the background and the rays of flickering come from one point and spray out from there. I had a similar eperience with the Saints Row demo from Xbox live.

So i rang the EIDOS helpline, the guy was helpful and told me it could be the game save on the hard drive and suggested trying the game on a friends 360.

i did this, both of us have hard drives but didn't switch them, and the game was fine. I'm running mine on and HDTV but it does it wether i'm in HD or normal mode (also tried it at 480,720&1080). My friend has an older CRT TV.

All i can think is i have a faulty 360! Mine is older than my friends, i got mine in April, he got his about 2 months ago.

Anyone have this happen or any ideas? Cheers! Tim

Well, did you play Oblivion and if so did you have any problems? That is a game that can be used for testing a 360 because it needs so much power.
But, overall, I would say that your 360 is defective. You should be able to get a replacement and keep your hard drive.
If you get a new 360 and keep your HDD, then you will need to connect to XBox Live for all purchased content that links directly to your gamertag. (Game add-ins, arcade games, possably themes and games pictures, etc) To my knowledge, the only workaround is to re-download them.

It seems ok, not played it much due to the graphics getting in the way! Like GTA really, but that's why you'd get it i guess! Could do with improvements to the controls, GTA was really easy to get buttons wise, with this I forget the which does what. Strange Game man said it was crap, i thought the reviews had been good for it?

I haven't tried that game no, i have Burnout Revenge, Prey, Table Tennis, tomb raider, perfect Dark and some downloads off Live but they're all fine, even in HD. As i said Saints Row has the exact same prob but i assumed that was because it was a downloaded demo and therefore unfinished..
Guess I'll be digging out the 360 reciept!

Well, to test things out, delete the Saints Row demo, and then re-download it and only it. Let it do that alone. If it still acts up, get a replacement.
Keep in mind, this is my opinion. I could be wrong. You could try calling the XBox tech support to get more information or a confirmation.

sterritt don't listen to the guy in the game shop, it's a good game. There are problems with it like side missions being all the same but the actual story and messing about is fantastic.

qik update:

Called up the shop i bought the 360, surprisingly the guy said he had experienced the same problem on his 360 at home and that every unit has different dvd drives etc. I argued surely that's no excuse for unplayable software, he agreed and tomorrow I'm going to take it back for a swap hopefully! Bit inconvinient but hey..
