Default Cause found for Overheating 360's

As it turns out, it looks like a correctly built Xbox 360 should not be overheating at all. The problem is, there are some Xbox 360s out in the wild that were built incorrectly. A group of German modders took apart two Xbox 360 units that were purchased independently of each other, and they found that the protective foil had not been removed from the heatsink. The problem with that is obvious - the heatsink is being insulated by the foil and plastic, and thereby cannot do it’s job. Honestly, we are surprised the Microsoft would be shipping units with such an amateur mistake.

Yeah I wouldve never of thought MS would make a mistake like that. I hope mine isnt like that, most likely it wouldve overheated by now if so. Im not going to crack open the case to find out and void my warranty.

^ Yeah there is no way that I want to break my 360 open because most of the time I take something apart I forget how to put it back together.

wow, that sucks. Mine overheats if you keep it to close to a wall, but even then it takes 3 hours to overheat. Still, with some distance (6") between the wall and the 360, I can play alllllll day.

I guess I am lucky. I haven't had any problems with mine, and I got a launch system! No overheating, no crashing after updates, just pure FUN!

As long as you keep your 360 is an open space you shouldn't have trouble. I had mine on at my friend's house for about 7 hours straight, no problems at all.

i had to laugh at this story, you would think that producing a new console would have some problem but you kind of expect that the ppl building/putting the consoles together can read a label that says pull away here lol.well i have been lucky as mine has never overheated once.a silly but forgivable mistake by ms

don't know if you guys have seen this link (http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archi...10/533618.aspx) but it looks like those pads with foil are actually normal for that type
