Default Gears coming to the PC

What do you all think about this? It's no big surprise but wouldnt you rather have Epic spend the resources on creating more 360 content rather than a PC port?

taken from You NEWB

Remember back when Mark Rein denied that Gears of War would be coming to the PC? Well, now we have official confirmation that Gears of War, the best selling Xbox 360 title, will be coming to a PC near you, and Mark himself was the one to confirm it. Just as it did with Halo, we all knew this would happen eventually, especially with certain pictures that were leaked not too far back , but it’s nice to finally have it official. Combine this with Halo 2 and its coming to PC, and you have a great way to push the Games for Windows initiative as well. So will this title be better on the PC, or do you still prefer your console experience over Live?

Mark Rein has stated that though Epic is a small company and has to concentrate efforts on Unreal right now, Gears on the PC is in the pipeline. It would seem all you PC guys have to do now is practice some patience; oh, and pray they don’t botch the controls. Then we can see whether or not the slow-paced tactical gameplay of Gears controls better with a keyboard and mouse or controller. Will the PC guys be able to handle active reload, along with the one-button-does-it-all action of the title?

Sounds like a good/bad situation for PC games as I bet this will utilize Direct X 10, thus forcing upgrades to Vista and other hardware to play. This is of course a mere assumption, but I feel it's probable.

It was always going go to the PC it was jsut down to M$ and how long they want it to be a 360 exculsive maybe forever!
Its a PC game at heart the UT3 engine is being used mainly for the big PC games coming out in next while, and epic are PC devs through and through, Gears was the game they done to be a show case of what the UT3 engine can do,top-end pcs can do alot more with the UT engine of course so gears will be-outdated soon in PC gaming so no point them releasing it ages after its 360 release when its a bit of a relic(like M$ did with halo) so it coming to PC is just a smart step to make more money and keep the PC gamers who dont like consoles happy.

The PC market is small compared to the console market... At 4 million sold how much more money do they need right now? I feel they should be supporting the version that is out right now. Like they said they were going to...

My thoughts exactly. Some games should be console exclusive. I'll never understand why Halo was released on PC. It was THE GAME that made the xbox name what it is today. Having that much of an impact, it should have never left the xbox. While we're on the subject, the port to PC was terrible. I was a PC gamer at the time, and had a high end machine, and it ran like ass. I could have done a better port with a banana and a jar of mayonnaise.
So please let Gears of War stay home Epic, don't send it out to a land it doesn't want to go.

As for the port though, I believe that they should not make it a priority or "pipeline" as they call it to port this game to a PC. There is still the 3 million fans-and-onward that play this game, and are most likely expecting a lot more maps, downloads etc. In my opinion, they still need to focus on their loyal console fans and give them what they deserve for all the attention this game has gotten. Let's face it without us joystick monkeys, this game would be NOTHING. Don't ditch us for PC just yet.

Wow you guys are sounding like real fanboys. I used to play GOW all the time till I swapped to PC gaming. Just think of how much better it would look on DirectX10 Graphics compared to the 360's DirectX9. The console will always have its exclusives but every now and they need to be ported to PC to get that many more poeple supporting there products. Does anybody want to tell me how many ports came out for the 360 that began on the PC or other consoles? Anybody?

Quite frankly, I don't think I could care less. If it is decided to release a 360 game on the PC why should I care? Of course a Gears would look better on a good PC but I am content with what it looks like on my 360.

I'd rather it be for the 360 only. If it did come to PC in the future, it would be cross platform which may be cool.

Bring the PC players. We'll just own them in a title we've had for like 6 months already, lol.

Default Keep it xbox

yeah. it's better staying on Xbox live than on the computer. if computer freaks started playing it on OUR turf over live, they'd, like, create some kind of a hack and be a frikin bunny for all we know! it's just that any time an xbox game goes to pc, the pc gamers make or find cheats that only they can use/would use. Pisses me off.

keep in on the xbox, anyone that has a PC would play World of Warcraft (or similar MMO) as opposed to GOW i reckon

The game is made for console gaming. It would be pretty awkward using Tab or the Shift to cover. Pop and lock just wouldnt be good for the pc and thats the whole style of the game.

I was almost goint to get a 8800GTS 3D video card to play this game, but I decided to go the Patience route cause surely soon enough Epic will release this on 360 as DLC. They have to.
